Simply Hating Trump and Killing ICE Won’t Give the Left a Midterm Victory

Commentary

When the Democrat’s National Committee decided last month not to release its much-ballyhooed autopsy of its losses in the 2024 election, they reasoned that the decision was made to avoid another public debate on the party’s weaknesses. Smart move.

Reportedly, the document contained comments based on hundreds of interviews with operatives in all 50 states.  Some of which leaked out, but a few party hacks began spouting views on what was needed to turn the party around for the midterms.

Trump the man, immigration deporting and ICE activities are priority grievances for Democrats.

Progressive Democrats – Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley, Crockett, Tlaib and others – all heightening their voices over ICE actions in Minneapolis, no longer want to abolish the agency, just kill the funding for it.  That will kill it.

Five leftist writers, who collaborated in a January 18, 2026, Politico piece, “ICE jumps to center of midterm campaigns,” citing the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis, could be having second thoughts now with the shameful anti-ICE invasion of the St. Paul church service.

Anti-ICE thugs yelled at parishioners, “Where are your people? Why are you not fighting for humanity?  Why are you not at Whipple (the federal building)? Why are you not standing with your Latino and Somali communities?”

Pardon the pun, but the noisy protestors scared the bejesus out of youngsters who were being hugged by parents sitting in the pews.

LEVY ARMSTRONG

Nakima Levy Armstrong, the alleged organizer of the protest invasion of the church on Sunday, has raked in over $1 million during six years, leading a Minneapolis civil rights nonprofit that addresses anti-poverty issues.

Armstrong, whose website identifies her as a civil rights lawyer and “scholar-activist,” foolishly published names of protestors with a video on her Facebook page, thus making the investigation easier for Trump’s DOJ.

This attack on freedom of religion brought Attorney General Bondi to the Twin Cities with action from the DOJ’s civil rights division promised.  This will not bode well for Democrats.

And while the protests have taken the news coverage off the massive welfare fraud investigation in Minnesota, fraud will not help their chances in the midterms.

SPANBERGER

The party’s plan to tout the winning of the governor’s race in Virginia took a hit on Saturday, when Governor Spanberger signed an order giving her the option to remove Virginia State Police from the agreement to support ICE.

Shortly after her inauguration, she declared, “our hardworking, law-abiding immigrant neighbors will know that when we say — we’ll focus on the security and safety of all of our neighbors, we mean them too.”

But how will the budget hit on healthcare, education and the various welfare programs by migrants go over with Virginians?

Republicans will continue to chide Democrats who would rather protect migrants with criminal records than support ICE, citing examples.

GALLEGO

Like Arizona’s embarrassing Senator Gallego, who said, “I think ICE needs to be totally torn down,” while saying his constituents want immigration enforcement that focuses on criminals and security, he chooses to refer to ICE as the “goon squad.”  That’s helpful.

And they’ll be using quotes by favorite Democrats like President Clinton:

“Whether they’re guilty or innocent of crimes, they are STILL here illegally and should be sent out of the country

Open borders Democrats are unwilling to accept that the illegal crossing of the border is in itself a crime.

The law, 8 U.S. Code 1325 includes action such as eluding inspections by immigration officers or using false documents to gain entry.  Penalties can include a fine of up to $250 and imprisonment for up to six months.

If an individual is caught illegally entering the U.S. more than once, the offense escalates to a felony, resulting in harsher penalties.

Reports show that migrants who came across the border without a criminal record are often swept up by ICE as they provide food and housing to a migrant sought by ICE.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
