Whether He’s on the Ballot or Not, Trump’s Voice, Record are to be Reckoned with in November

Commentary

I’ve recently chided those who mumble about the price of gas while filling their tank, suggesting consideration for the fact that we are bringing the biggest terrorism regime to its knees, something previous presidents have failed to do.

Those on the left like to say it’s a war we didn’t have to start, not recognizing that we’ve been at war with Iran for more than four decades and President Trump refused to keep kicking the can down the road.

As we close in on Election Day, I hope Republicans laugh off that tradition that the opposition customarily wins during an incumbent’s midterm and vote, by mail or in person.

Surely, Republicans are savvy enough to weigh all that the Trump administration has done to improve the well-being of Americans, despite gas and some food products being costlier.

While I have covered those accomplishments in recent blogs, the Wall Street Journal this week put it simply: “Fuel prices are up, but so are 401(k) balances,” focusing on pocketbook issues in the midterms.

Americans will decide “whether to punish or reward President Trump’s party,” writes the Journal in its assessment of pocketbook issues, ended on a positive note of lower winter heating costs. It reports that roughly 46 percent of American homes are warmed with natural gas, where a 19 percent reduction is already reflected at the start of the heating season.

Meanwhile, President Trump is visiting states where there are close contests, including those considered “Red” states, in an effort to get out the vote, even two rallies in one day.

The leftist media continue to write about Trump having lost his popularity, but you wouldn’t know it judging by the crowds who line up hours before his appearances to hear him ramble on for more than an hour as he reminds supporters of his accomplishments.

Karl Rove writes that “team Trump made a risky bet on rallies,” adding “with less than two weeks before voters render their verdict, it shouldn’t make that bet harder to win.”

Some question the president asking people to “pretend that I’m on the ballot,” intended to get out his closest supporters who helped put him in office.  But Wall Street Journal columnist Jason L. Riley seems to disagree, writing, “Mr. President, be careful what you wish for.”

With a second fake poll – Median Strategies – revealed, giving Democrats the edge, Republicans have more reason to vote to preserve the integrity of the voting process. The money behind the fake polls is intended to mislead voters and persuade donors to keep the campaign funds coming.

Foreign vs Domestic Time

The media often reports that Americans feel the president spends an inordinate amount of time on foreign policy versus domestic issues.  Not true.  His schedule proves it.

Which takes me back to a question I asked months ago, why is the Wall Street Journal giving John Bolton space for his op-eds?

Bolton has pleaded guilty to one count of illegally retaining classified information, faces up to five years in prison, and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 28, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang in Maryland.

Critical of Trump’s decisions regarding Iran and Ukraine going into the midterms, he writes of “a foreign policy in disarray.”  That’s his view.  Who cares?

Investigating Omar: Why Now?

The left is criticizing Trump for opening the investigation into Rep. Ilan Omar so close to Election Day.  Why not?  Consider it an extension of the inept effort by Biden’s DOJ.  She was part of a federal probe into her campaign spending and interactions with a foreign national, but it conveniently “stalled for lack of evidence.”

Have they forgotten their non-stop investigations of Trump going into the 2020 and 2024 election?

Omar must have been reading the Red State blog, where it advised candidates to respond with “not to my knowledge,” because that was her response to MS NOW’s Chris Hayes, who asked if she was related to her brother.

Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, and they divorced in 2017. The rumor that he was her biological brother, and that they married to fraudulently get him citizenship, has dogged her for years. It gained increasing credence when police raided her Washington, D.C. home.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin suggested last month that the agency has actionable evidence to believe that the congresswoman, a naturalized U.S. citizen since 2000, married her own brother as part of an immigration scheme.

Officials have reportedly obtained her DNA in connection with the case, the New York Post reported, though Omar said in the interview that nothing with her DNA was taken during the search. She said the agents “went room by room” and “took 17 items.”

Among the things taken in the raid were her daughter’s old cellphone, her current husband’s notebooks, a Somali phrase book, and a camera. The congresswoman said she would have to move residences in Washington, D.C., as she now feels unsafe.

Trump has mentioned the possibility of her deportation.

May Americans take seriously the privilege of voting, especially in the midterm.
