He’s going to make America great again. He’s going to be the jobs president. We’re going to actually be tired of winning. He’s going to build a beautiful wall. He’s going to rebuild the military and take care of our veterans. We’ve heard it over and over again.
He’s going to change things in Washington DC.
Gov. Chris Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump yesterday should tell you nothing’s really going to change. It will be business as usual.
Just two months ago, Trump was attacking Christie over “Bridgegate,” the closing of the George Washington Bridge, saying “he totally knew about it.”
He criticized Christie for credit downgrades in New Jersey, and for appearing arm and arm with President Obama during Hurricane Sandy in the midst of the 2012 election. And, all while saying he was his friend.
Christie’s one-liners against Trump are many. He accused Trump of acting like a 13 year-old when he threatened to boycott the Fox debate.
“We don’t need reality TV in the Oval Office right now’ it’s not a place for an entertainer.
“What you need is a president who’s had the experience and the know-how to do this,” said Christie on CBS’ Face the Nation, “not someone (like Trump) who’s just going to talk off the top of his head.”
“He’s a great guy and a good person, but I just don’t think he’s suited to be president of the United States.”
“Be wary of any presidential candidate who says he will build a wall across the southern border … it’s not going to happen …. It’s the wrong message to send …and it’s not going to be effective,” said Christie.
And perhaps my favorite: “Always beware of a candidate for public office who has the quick and easy answer to a complicated problem,” said Christie of Trump.
That leads me to this Christie statement made yesterday:
I am proud to be here to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States. There is no one who is better prepared to provide America with strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump. I am happy to be on the Trump team and I look forward to working with him.” – NJ Gov. Chris Christie, Feb. 26, 2016
I see it as more “good ole boy” Washington.
