My reading of the Mueller Report is that it’s the story of a man frustrated by charges of alleged collusion and obstruction of justice by forces who were determined to undermine his presidency.
After hearing Attorney General Bill Barr report the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the alleged Russian collusion by the president’s team and the charge of obstruction of justice against President Trump, I essentially heard what Barr revealed in his summarization on March 24, 2019 … there was no collusion and Trump was not found guilty of obstructing justice.
As I predicted yesterday, the report does, in fact, have unflattering and downright embarrassing reflections of an angry and frustrated president, with knowledge that he did not collude with Russians or obstruct justice.
For example, when the president learned that Mueller had been appointed on May 17, 2017, he screamed at former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, saying that he had “let him down.” Sessions recalled Trump lashing out at him as he slumped back in this chair and said, “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I’m f**ked. How could you let this happen?”
During the following two years there were numerous statements by the president about Mueller, his biased team, the witch hunt and hoax. He wanted the special counsel removed, but never followed through. All of this, and more, came to light in the report because the president declined to declare executive privilege in the interest of transparency. Yet, Democrats plan to use those statements to continue their effort to nail him with obstruction of justice.
It is believed that Mueller saw all of this as just combative “talk” and Twitter material by a man with determined innocence, because the president gave instructions to his team to be fully cooperative with Mueller by consenting to be interviewed and to provide requested documents.
While there was concern over the lack of recall the president had in answering Mueller’s written questions, most of you will recall that Hillary Clinton cited that she “could not recall,” “did not remember,” and had “no recollection” more than 40 times during her FBI interview. And the disgraced former FBI Director James Comey had memory lapses over 200 times during his Congressional hearings.
While Nadler and others questioned the fact that Trump exhibited no corrupt intent, you may recall that they never gave a second thought when Comey determined that Hillary didn’t intend to mishandle classified emails.
While those suffering with Trump Derangement Syndrome were doing everything they could to undermine the Trump presidency, the president chalked up an enviable list of accomplishments.
Despite the findings and a lightly redacted report, Democrats are bound and determined to continue their effort to seek their view of justice that could lead to the president’s impeachment.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, huffed and puffed his 5-foot 4-inch body to a microphone to make his dissatisfaction with the report known and promise to have Barr and Mueller face his committee. I don’t imagine they’ll lose any sleep over that prospect. Nadler, you may remember, said he became a politician because he wanted to be “part of something big,” and this is his big opportunity. He will fail.
So, while radical freshmen members Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and Tlaib run roughshod over Speaker Pelosi’s House, a host of seasoned Democrats, some running for president, are venturing to further embarrass her party.
May God bless the United States of America.
