Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.
HE CAN’T WIN – After President Trump and his national security staff briefed Congressional leaders on the shoot down of our drone by Iran, some were quick to refer to him as a warmonger even though he had not decided on a military response. Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer was concerned that the president may “bumble into war.”
However, when the president called off a strike that he determined would not be proportional, after learning some 150 people might be killed in the strike that was planned, some of those same individuals inferred that he was weak and couldn’t pull the trigger.
He cannot win on the need to deport illegals either. After Democrat Nancy Pelosi pleaded that he postpone his plan, he conceded to giving her two weeks to come up with an alternative plan. The Democrat response? But that will interfere with our Fourth of July plans. Boo Hoo.
Kramerontheright knows that both parties have draft border asylum proposals on the shelf that could be dusted off and negotiated in days, not weeks, if they were truly interested in a solution. If they don’t, Trump will merely proceed with deportations.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED that President Obama deported approximately 100,000 more illegals each year during his tenure than the first years of the Trump administration.
BORDER ISSUE FLASHBACK – “The problem of illegal immigration is the single most important issue to Arizonans. Property owners along the U.S. – Mexico border are under siege. Violent crime is up over 100- percent along the border. Hospital, law enforcement, and public school budgets are under strain. And our porous borders are an open invitation to terrorists and criminals who seek to do us harm.” So wrote then Arizona Republican Sen. Jon Kyl on May 30, 2006.”
WILL SHE OR WON’T SHE – It has been reported that CIA Director Gina Haspel is cooperating with U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the counter intelligences spying on the Trump campaign. However, Jed Babbin, writing in The American Spectator, “The CIA Is Running Scared,” has his doubts. And with his years of experience in Washington, that can be understood.
Babbin references a recent New York Times article about the investigation, which he believes was written at the behest of the intelligence community as its sources were “current and former American officials.”
They – Brennan, Clapper, Comey and others – believe they are above reproach. Haspel, according to Babbin, has the most to lose, but other current CIA and FBI officials have just as much at risk.
“The Times article reveals the CIA’s attitude, which may be imputed to Haspel,” writes Babbin. “Senior agency officials have questioned why the CIA’s analytical work should be subjected to a federal prosecutor’s scrutiny.”
Of course, they all like to say that the president isn’t above the law, but some how their mission protects them.
HICKS NAILS NADLER – During her closed-door hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on June 21, 2019, former White House communications director Hope Hicks tired of chairman Jerry Nadler repeatedly referring to her as Ms. Lewandowski; three times during the hearing. “My name is Ms. Hicks, Mr. Chairman, if you’re going to make the case to the American people that you’re conducting serious, credible, investigations and you’re prepared, why be amateur and offensive.”
The transcript of the hearing noted that Hick’s attorney had to call on Nadler to ask everyone in the room to refrain from taking pictures of Hicks.
DID YOU HEAR that the State Department announced last week that it found 23 “violations” and seven “infractions” in its review of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server to conduct official business, and that it had identified several individuals culpable in “multiple security incidents” associated with the scandal. The review was the result of a January inquiry by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and is expected to be completed by September 1, 2019. Sometimes the wheels of justice grind slowly.

LAUGH-OF-THE-DAY – Are you ready for this? Former Arizona RINO Sen. Jeff “The” Flake was named as one of six resident fellows for the upcoming fall semester at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He will “mentor a group of undergraduate students and lead a study group focusing on the importance of bipartisanship in a polarized political era,” according to Jeannette Hinkle with the Arizona Republic.
May God bless the United States of America.
