Climate change profiteers want deniers punished

Have you heard about those who have called for the execution, strangling and a sort of Nuremberg war crimes trial for climate change deniers?

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) wants legislation to punish climate change deniers.(likesuccess.com)

It began with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s (D-RI) calling for the criminal investigation of people and organizations seen as global warming deniers, using perhaps the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

In an op-ed by Walter Williams, the esteemed John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics at George Mason University (GMU), he wrote of a letter signed by 20 signatories calling for the president to use RICO to punish those who dispute the “consensus” of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Six of those who signed the letter are GMU faculty members. Continue reading

Obama and his EPA continue to cause job losses

Over the past few weeks I have posted a number of pieces on the cost of the Obama-Biden administration’s energy policy to the American taxpayer in the increase of electricity rates and the loss of jobs.

Do you remember President Obama’s 2012 campaign promise that, if reelected, he would create one million new manufacturing jobs by the end of his second term? It looks like this will be another Obama unfulfilled promise as we have lost jobs over the past two months.

Now we learn that some four million jobs are at risk by the new EPA rules over the next 25 years, which Investor’s Business Daily says is “equal to putting every worker in Ohio out of work.” Continue reading

When are we going to say ‘no’ to café standards?

For years, I have written critical pieces about the government’s interference in automobile and truck manufacturing by introducing strict emission goals. And at the same time, I have been critical of the manufacturers for caving to the heavy hand of government.

The recent tests that caught VW cheating to meet U.S. emissions goals for nitrogen oxide shouldn’t surprise anyone, and if you think VW is the only manufacturer looking for ways to meet the emission standards, you’re dreaming. Keep in mind that emission goals are just part of their problem; manufacturers also need to produce a safe, well-performing car that the public can afford to purchase without a government subsidy. kramerontheright view on climate change supported

“If only the president had consulted the history of Glacier Bay … he would have found a different story. It is a historical fact that the glacier in Glacier Bay began its retreat around 1750 … (and) by the time Capt. George Vancouver arrived there in 1794 the glacier still filled the bay. When John Muir visited in 1879 he found that the glacier had retreated more than 30 miles … and by 1900 Glacier Bay was ice-free.” – Patrick Moore*

President Obama continued to spew his alarmist views on climate change during his visit to Alaska’s Glacier Bay, where climate change has been naturally taking place for thousands of years. (todayszaman.com)

So wrote Moore in a piece in today’s Wall Street Journal, “Obama’s Half-Baked Alaska.” He followed with, “All of this happened long before human emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, could have had any impact.”

It supports the statement I made in my Sept. 1, post, “The CO2 myth,” that “Temperatures and CO2 levels of today have been recorded in years before the invention of the combustion engine,” and that “even if we were to stop all transportation and shut down our industry, it would not have any impact on global warming.” Continue reading

The C02 myth

The Environmental Protection Agency and its environmental advocacy groups continue to perpetuate the myth that C02 needs to be controlled because it is the primary cause of trapping the sun’s heat and causing the planet to warm.

And, they claim that the United States produces 25 percent of the carbon dioxide pollution from fossil-fuel burning, the largest share of any country.

President Obama’s EPA has embarked on a $655 billion Clean Air Plan to cut C02 emissions by 32 percent in the next 15 years, and he is currently on an 11-day climate change tour to shame us for ignoring our carbon footprint.

While I agree that there has been a negligible warming, and human behavior may contribute to it, but we have been told by the government that the Clean Air Plan will most likely not have a measurable effect on the warming. Continue reading

Global warming? Follow the money

As President Obama embarks on his 11-day climate change tour, the Wall Street Journal claims “global warming is expected to emerge as a key issue.”

WSJ bases its prediction on a Pew Research Center report finding that 74 percent of American adults say there is “solid evidence” of global warming, and that 46 percent believe the warming trend is “mostly due to human activity.”

You can expect to hear that its “proven science” backed by hundreds of leading scientists, supported by the majority of Americans. And count on him to scoff at deniers. Continue reading

Michigan bows to “greens” and EPA

When I read the Wall Street Journal’s Aug. 2, commentary, “States Should Shun the EPA’s New Power Mandate,” a report on the Clean Power Plan, I was reminded of the years of letters to the editor and opinion pieces in my Michigan hometown newspaper, mostly by those opposing coal-generated energy. They had bought into the health and climate change scare tactics of environmentalists and the Obama administration.

Even the NAACP got into the act, issuing a report three years ago that the James De Young coal-fired plant was an “environmental justice offender,” stating that it was “significantly harmful to low-income communities and communities of color.” Never mind that just 3.6 percent of the Holland, Michigan population is African-American and half of the population has incomes of $50,000 or more.

In 2012, a spokesman for Green America signaled the proposed EPA rules as “good news.” Citing questionable statistics that coal-fired plants were the cause of four out of the five leading causes of mortality in the U.S., he said the carbon emissions were responsible for billions of dollars in health care costs.

Advocates have said the move to renewable energy was going to create thousands of new Michigan jobs and reduce pollution “without significantly increasing energy prices.” Where have I heard this before? Continue reading

Another jobs promise by the president

“The Clean Power Plan will drive significant new investment in cleaner more modern and more efficient technologies, creating tens of thousands of jobs.” – President Obama

Just how stupid does the president think we are? His $800 billion stimulus was supposed to “save or create more than 3.5 million jobs,” but 1.5 million jobs were lost in the two years following the stimulus enactment. He later had to admit that “shovel-ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected.”

I wonder if the people protesting in Washington DC for more green jobs were aware that the EPA would be hiring some 800 people to serve as regulators, who will be killing jobs across the country. (21stcenturyapprecticeshiiopworkforce3one.org)

The $20 billion in green technology funding was supposed “to create the jobs of the future,” but those “efforts to stimulate creation of green jobs have largely failed,” reported the New York Times. A $500 million Labor Department program to train workers for green jobs was designed to place 80,000 workers in energy efficiency or renewable energy careers, but reportedly just 8,000 found work in the two years following the program start. Obama sticks us with another legacy loser

President Obama today announced his latest effort to secure his legacy in the climate change controversy. And again the American taxpayer is the loser.

Hillary aims economic message at low-information crowd with renewed attack on business

It was vintage Hillary as she unveiled her “Growth and Fairness Economy” at New York’s progressive New School this week.

It was all there, designed to trigger further animosity toward business. The economy is stacked in favor of those at the top …. high corporate profits and CEO salaries … inequality … wage stagnation. And it’s those “mean-spirited” Republicans that are to blame.

Her message is directed at the low-information crowd, who like hearing someone attack “those greedy CEO’s,” who they believe are responsible for their lot in life. This is how she intends to be their “champion.”

It’s unfortunate that the average worker has little or no idea what makes the economy tick. Take the subject of profit, for instance. In numerous polls over the past five decades, people have been asked, “Just a rough guess, what percent profit on each dollar of sales do you think the average company makes after taxes?”

The average response in the most recent poll was 36 percent! Believe it. The average profit margin is just 6.5 to 7.5 percent. Continue reading
