You and your policies lost, Mr. President

It was you, Mr. President, members of your cabinet, your staff and your “do nothing” Senate, who lost the trust of voters, and made it easy for them to determine it was time for a change.  Sixty-five percent of the country believed the country was going in the wrong direction and many voted for Republicans.

You said you weren’t on the ballot, but your policies were. So the Republican candidates used them, and their unpopularity, to win big.

Your candidates didn’t want your support, and those you did support lost. But don’t feel bad, those candidates who welcomed Bill and Hillary Clinton to their campaigns, lost too.

The GOP is taking back the Senate while increasing their presence in the House, and 32 states will now have Republican governors.

I know you think conservative women aren’t qualified to run for office, but did you notice Shelley Capito and Joni Ernst will be in the next Senate class and Mia Love, a black conservative woman, will be in the next House class. And, three of those newly elected governors are women.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who Democrats have said isn’t black enough, won reelection.

And, Mr. President, did you notice that Carl DeMaio, the first openly gay Republican, will be in the next Congress?

Just days after your 2009 inauguration, Mr. President, you told Rep. Eric Cantor, “Elections have consequences, Eric, and I won.”

This is a new day, Mr. President, and while your name wasn’t on the ballot, you lost.
