On a number of occasions I have noted how the two State Department spokespersons, Jen Psaki and her assistant Marie Harf, are ill-suited to perform their roles.
As recent as Feb. 11, I wrote in my post, “Surprise! There were Jews in the Jewish kosher deli, that Jen Psaki said we couldn’t assume that those targeted and killed in the deli were Jewish.
Now we learn that Psaki has been promoted and will move from State to the White House, where she will serve as Communications Director.
Do you suppose the president remembered what she said about him last year?
During an exchange with State Department correspondents, Psaki said, “I would argue the president doesn’t give himself enough credit for what he’s done around the world …”
Mocked by the press, she was asked what accomplishments she thought deserved more praise. “For engagement initiatives with Iran, what we’ve done in Ukraine, efforts to dive in and engage around the world,” she responded.
“Russia still annexed Crimea,” one reporter said. Another commented on the ongoing negotiations with Iran, and questioned if that was a success.
A month earlier, you may recall, she was unable to answer a reporter’s request that she name off the top of her head diplomatic achievements of Hillary Clinton. “Given Hillary Clinton’s obvious ambitions … it should not have been a surprising question,” said Juana Summers of Politico.
She ought to do just fine over in the White House, advising Press Secretary Josh Earnest on how to conduct a press briefing.
Then there’s Harf, who on occasion would stand in for Psaki at State, according to all reports, will not fill Psakli’s shoes at State. A State Departmemt official indicated Harf “failed spectacularly” in a test run while going on a number of TV news shows. Appearing on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Mathews, she said “we cannot kill ourselves out of war,” and suggested we need to find jobs for the terrorists. Click here to see the embarrassing moments.
