Don’t worry, Obama says we have ISIS contained

“The enemy only has to get lucky once, we must be right 100 per cent of the time.” –  President George W. Bush

While paraphrasing Irish Republican Army spokesman P. O’Neil’s comment after the IRA failed to kill Margaret Thatcher, this quote from President Bush following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center has been used a number of times by other leaders.

That luck ran out for French President Francois Hollande, his intelligence group, and the people of France yesterday when seven terrorists were able to wreak havoc in Paris, killing some 130 people and seriously wounding more than 300 others.

It was just three months ago that luck played a role when three Americans and a Brit managed to stop a terrorist from mass killings on a French train. However, Islamic terrorists were successful in killing 11 and injuring 11 others in the January raid on the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo.

If President Obama isn’t concerned about our luck running out; that we haven’t experienced a mass soft-target terrorist killing in the U.S., he should be.  But I have my doubts.

Appearing on ABC Friday morning prior to the Paris attack, President Obama told George Stephanopoulos “the U.S. strategy against ISIS has contained them.”

Secretary of State John Kerry, talking tough during a Tunis news conference, warned terrorists, “you need to know this: your days are numbered and you will be defeated.”

It’s all talk.  Where there’s no leadership, there’s no political will.

“ISIS is on the offense, with the ability to attack at will, anyplace, anytime,” Gen. Jack Keane (Ret.) recently told the Senate Armed Services Committee, adding, “We are not only failing, we are losing this war.”

Warning of expansion beyond the Middle East, General Keane said, ISIS is “inspiring and motivating sympathizers throughout the world.”

“ISIS is one of the most evil organizations that has ever existed in the world,” Keane warned, “not a minor annoyance.”  He went on to state “this is a group that is committed to the destruction of everything decent in the world.”

Our legacy-minded president continues to look at the terrorism through rose-colored glasses, seemingly convinced his luck won’t run out.

Meanwhile he has agreed to accept some 10,000 Syrian refugees for relocation here, and you should know that one of the terrorists in Paris yelled, “this is for Syria.”
