As news reports have Arizona moving from “leaning Republican” to “toss-up” at this juncture in the up-coming presidential election, the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics announced that the ZIP code in which I reside – 85255 – leads the country in Trump donations.

While I was somewhat taken aback when I saw the newspaper headline, Scottsdale ZIP code leads country in Trump donations, my interest quickly lessened when I read that our “slice of Arizona had chipped in just under $30,000 through June.” (Note: That did not include a contribution from this Republican, although I am compelled to vote for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, the mother of corruption.)
Overall, with contributions totaling $416,000 through June, Arizona ranks seventh in the Trump donor column behind bigger states like Texas, Florida, California, New York, and Georgia. Surprisingly, Washington DC, is also in the top six. Trump, who has basically self-funded his campaign prior to his nomination, is now fundraising for his general election bid.
