As a news wonk, I often pick up on things people say on the news that go unnoticed. Such was the case Monday night while watching Special Report on Fox, when Charles Lane uttered something truly absurd.
Those of you who aren’t familiar with Lane, he is a frequent panel member on the evening news at Fox. He comes from the stable of Hillary Clinton sycophants at the Washington Post, where he is an editorial writer.
The other panel members, Tucker Carlson and Charles Krauthammer, were discussing the latest document dump on Clinton and the unbelievable finding that she was ignorant of sensitive and secret classification markings. She either sent or received hundreds of emails considered classified on her mobile devices.
Lane, seeing his opportunity to defend Clinton, blindly stated that Donald Trump wouldn’t know those classification markings either. Without stopping to realize he just said something very obvious about an outsider, he made Clinton look even worse as he stated the she had served in the Senate, on the Armed Services Committee, and as secretary of state.
While Lane was probably thinking, what did I say? Carlson and Krauthammer politely let him off the hook and didn’t finish his sentence – “and should have known the classification markings.”
