IF THE PRESIDENT ASKED ME, I would advise him to forget about the 9oth Circuit Court stay on his temporary suspension of immigrant access from the seven specified countries.
Instead, ask your new Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to develop “extreme vetting” procedures and put them in effect for all immigrants requesting visas regardless of country of origin. If required by law, have Congress draft legislation for you to sign and order implementation. Of course, that’s too simple … common sense.
DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE ASHAMED – The liberals knew that all of President Trump’s cabinet nominations would be confirmed in the end, but they showed who they are by levelling insults at them in hearings and after confirmation. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MD) called our new Attorney General Jeff Sessions “disgraceful.” Sen. Chuckles Schumer (D-NY), appearing on MSNBC, told leftist Rachel Maddow’s, meager audience, “When Sessions was passed it turned my stomach.” Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) called Betsy Devos “the most incompetent cabinet nominee I have ever seen.”
NBC’S ANDREA MITCHELL LIES -When you hear President Trump sounding off against the media and fake news – believe it. Andrea Mitchell, appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press last weekend, was caught in another lie, which has become common for her. She claimed that President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, was never even given a meeting with any Republican senator. In fact, 15 GOP senators did actually meet with Garland.
180 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES HAVE SIGNED-UP FOR DISOBEDIENCE training by participating in a workshop featuring expert advice on workers’ rights and expressing civil disobedience, demonstrating their opposition to the Trump administration, according to The Washington Post. I remind you that voters in Washington DC voted 90.9 percent to 4.1 percent for Hillary Clinton. Civil Service employees who also live in nearby Maryland voted 60.5 percent to 35.3 percent for Clinton, and those residing in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia also voted for Clinton. Another reason for “draining the swamp.”
A TAX REFORM PACKAGE outline will be unveiled in the next two to three weeks, according to President Trump. Of course, it will take months to work out the details in Congress, but this news is encouraging after rumors were flying that it would be put off a year or two.
ANOTHER GOING-AWAY GIFT FROM OBAMA – Using the power of his Health and Human Services agency, President Obama issued a rule that not only locked down federal grants for Planned Parenthood through the Title X “family planning” program, but also blocked states from defunding Planned Parenthood. Thankfully, Republican Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Diane Black (R-TN) have introduced repeals of the eleventh-hour rule to stop Obama’s going away gift. Sadly, Planned Parenthood performed 323,999 abortion procedures in one year, according to its 2014-2015 annual report. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize the abortion industry, with its blatant disregard for human life. You may not be aware that Planned Parenthood’s political arm spent more than $38 million supporting liberals in the November election.
TWO GOP ESTABLISHMENT HOLDOVERS, George Schultz and James Baker, who served as treasury secretary and secretaries of state in previous Republican administrations, have come up with a half-baked idea for a carbon tax, as their solution to restrict carbon dioxide emissions. While they admit that the extent to which climate change is due to man-made causes can be questioned, they believe the risks associated with future warming are so severe that they should not be hedged. Don’t look for their idea to go far. The Republican-led House last June approved a non-binding resolution condemning the idea of a carbon tax as “detrimental to American families and businesses.” The measure, having passed 267-163, was designed to lock-in the representatives’ positions, making it harder for those to change their position in the future. In addition, the idea runs counter to President Trump’s promise to help restore coal mining jobs.
“DEVOS WON’T TAKE HER FOOT OFF THE GAS just because her nomination was so razor-thin,” said fellow blogger Jeanne Allen. “I don’t think there’s any doubt that embracing innovation and policy changes that will deliberately upset the status quo is the way to go, and DeVos will most likely do just that as secretary of education. There’s no time to lose.” Michael Goodwin of the New York Post, said, “Democrats claim to stand for the poor, immigrants and nonwhites, yet given a chance to actually support someone dedicated to improving education for all American’s children, especially those trapped in failing urban schools, the Dems said no, hell no.”
THOSE ENVIRONMENTALY CONCERNED NATIVE AMERICANS at the Dakota Access pipeline site left enough trash, including an abandoned car, to fill 250 dump trucks. Even now, as the Army Corps of Engineers has the go-ahead to complete the project, these “concerned” individuals vow to continue to protest.
