Here are my observations on some items in the news.
THOSE CIVIL WAR STATUES – A friend who noted my past posts about those who believe they can rewrite history by removing Civil War statues, offered this bit of wisdom: Blacks, who were never slaves, are fighting whites, who were never Nazis, over a Confederate statue erected by southern Democrats because now Democrats can’t stand their own history anymore … yet somehow, it’s Trump’s fault!
THE ARPAIO PARDON – The Dems, and some RINOS, are up in arms over the president’s pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Those same Dems were all for dismissing the contempt of Congress citations against Obama Attorney General Eric Holder and IRS Official Lois Lerner, and quick to call the charges “political.” And worse, they supported Obama’s commutation of Bradley (Chelsea) Manning, who leaked military intelligence. Personally, I would have preferred that the president wait for the outcome of the sheriff’s appeal, but so be it. Regarding Arpaio considering a run against Sen. Jeff Flake – fuhgeddaboudit.
PERHAPS YOU MISSED THIS. The leftist media is ignoring the revelation that the Podesta Group, headed by John Podesta’s brother Tony, has retroactively filed DOJ disclosures for “pro-Putin lobbying.” Are they guilty of collusion? Dozens of new disclosures, previously unreported, show interactions the Group made with influential government offices, including the Hillary Clinton State Department, and Vice President Joe Biden’s office while lobbying for the pro-Russian European Centre for a Modern Ukraine. That’s the same organization Paul Manafort represented.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? The Wall Street Journal’s Gerard Baker is under fire for committing a great sin against journalism by demanding his reporters simply report facts. While some see this as an order to skew articles to favor President Trump, but it’s Baker’s response to the “reporting” he sees in The New York Times, The Washington Post and by CNN and MSNBC anchors, where opinions become part of the news reporting.
YOU MAY RECALL my August 20, post covering the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) that claims to be fighting bigotry and hate. I wrote of CNN’s quoting the SPLC as if it is a non-partisan source of information, ignoring the fact that organization has been targeting and lumping legitimate conservative groups and some media outlets with actual extremist groups. In my earlier piece, I reported that the SPLC had added Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council as a hate organization. Click here to hear Perkins’ reaction.
The left-leaning Arizona Republic newspaper recently gave credence to the SPLC by accepting its full-page advertisement seeking financial support. Actor George Clooney and his wife donated $1 million, as did Apple CEO Tim Cook.
I will keep you posted on the despicable activities of the SPLC.
