Trump needs to be strong … April Ryan’s foolish question … McCain attacks Trump again … Trump further weakens ObamaCare … two nutty stories from California … and Bolton the right choice

Here are my observations and opinions on some of the news.

A TIME TO BE STRONG – I had been thinking about all of the things President Trump is facing, from the personal attacks, the unprecedented raid of his lawyer’s office, fair trade with China, Mexico and other countries, Russian interference, the lousy Iran deal, the threat of North Korea and more.

Then, I ran across a piece by Roger L. Simon, “Trump Must Be the Strong Horse Now,” in PJMedia.com. Strong horse comes from fellow journalist Lee Smith’s immersion in Islamic history – following the leader with the most strength and power, i.e. the strong horse.

“(Trump’s) adversaries, ambitious and vengeful as they are, have little idea of the chaos that will ensue in this country should Trump fail, the ruptures that will occur,” writes Simon. “And if they do understand that, they are the vilest of men and women. So, Trump must be the strong horse.”

AND THEN THERE’S THIS insight from Melissa Mackenzie in Spectator.org. that certainly supports the need for Trump to be that strong horse. “In D.C. and cities around the country, elites are shocked and horrified that someone such as Trump is even in office. They hate him. They hate everyone who would support him. The fact that Donald Trump enjoys 86% approval among Republicans fills them with revulsion at him and them. These people.

“They are going to cleanse America of this Trump stench, by God, and nothing will stop them, not even attorney-client privilege,“ she adds

“I think Hugh Hewitt is right that this a politically unprecedented move to go after the president’s lawyer and, by extension the president’s private papers. Which means that whatever warranted this had better be big enough and clear enough to the public to justify such a move, or a lot of people are going to have egg on their faces.” – Jonah Goldberg, National Review

Mackenzie reminds us again of the double-standard considering the investigation of Hillary Clinton. Remember how Comey and company at the FBI honored attorney-client privilege when they interviewed Hillary and attorney Cheryl Mills without recording that session in any manner. Phones and computers were destroyed after evidence therein was subpoenaed.

“The DC PC police don’t want Trump voters running things. A job so important should be in the hands of the Smart Set, and they’re going to take the country back, no matter what the cost,” Mackenzie concludes.

APRIL RYAN, the “journalist” who yelled out to President Trump as he concluded his remarks during a recent Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony in the White House – “Are you a racist?” – again made a fool of herself on Tuesday. Ryan, who represents American Urban Radio and is a frequent contributor on CNN, asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders (on nation-wide TV) if the president has thought about stepping down.

“With all of this turmoil, particularly this last week, has the president at any time thought about stepping down before or now?” Sanders appropriately fired back, “No, and I think that’s an absolutely ridiculous question.”

“HEY RYAN, did you ever consider jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge … or playing in the traffic during rush hour?” tweeted Iwontell127.

POOR JOHN McCAIN – I know, I promised to lay off the senator after he was diagnosed with brain cancer, but he keeps surfacing with comments I just cannot overlook.

The senator obviously didn’t approve of President Trump’s comments that he planned to remove the military from Syria “very soon,” and chose to place blame on that decision for the alleged chemical attack that followed. “Bashar Assad and his Russian and Iranian backers have heard him, and were emboldened by American inaction,” he said.

Of course, that was the signal for other “experts” to add their two cents worth for the benefit of the media, that welcomes any opportunity to pile on the president.

Think about it. Wouldn’t you think Assad and the others would simply wait until we leave before doing their dirty deeds? Now, not only did they open themselves to a major U.S. military response, but most assuredly a delay in our pullout.

IT DIDN’T MAKE THE NEWS, because it is good news. President Trump took additional steps to further weaken ObamaCare, by allowing states to relax the rules on what insurers must cover, giving states more power to regulate their individual markets.

The CMS issued a final rule that allows states to select essential health benefits that must be covered by individual insurance plans sold under ObamaCare.

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU’VE HEARD IT ALL from California, there are these two stories. In a test, they are painting some of the streets with white “CoolSeal” to reduce the effect of urban “heat islands” caused by climate change at a cost of $40,000 per mile.

NOW THIS – California is moving ahead with a plan to move some of the exploding homeless population off the streets and … wait for it … into neighborhood backyards. Rents to homeowners would be covered by government (that’s us taxpayers) low-income housing vouchers with homeless tenants contributing 30 percent of their income, assuming they have some.

Under the program, the county would lend homeowners $75,000 to build a backyard house, or $50,00 for a garage renovation for up to six units. The loan would be forgiven after 10 years.

One in five of 500 homeowners contacted expressed an interest in the program.

An estimated 58,000 people are living on the streets, in cars, tents and lean-to’s.

AND THEN THERE’S THIS – The portable toilets provided by some mayors had to be removed because they were being used for “stand-up” prostitution. Ahhh, California.

BOLTON THE RIGHT CHOICE – Judging from all of the off-the-wall negative comments about newly named National Security Advisor John Bolton during the questioning of Secretary of State Nominee Mike Pompeo voiced by Democrats and a few squishy Republicans, I’d say he was the right choice. What an improvement over Susan Rice.
