CNN, MSNBC unpatriotic … anti-Trumper in road rage … another promise kept … black pastor praises Trump … and Café standards get fresh look

Here are my observations and opinions on selected news of the day.

Winter view of Korean War Memorial in Washington DC reminds many of fighting in the bitter cold of Korea. (thezebra.org)

CNN, MSNBC AGAIN SHOW INDIFFERENCE – When the remains of the first bodies believed to be Americans who lost their lives during the Korean War arrived to an emotional and patriotic event at Joint Base Hickam in Hawaii Wednesday night, MSNBC failed to provide live coverage and CNN did so in just 58 seconds … yes, 58 seconds.

Fox News Channel covered the entire event, showing members of all services transferring the American flag-draped containers from two C-17 transports to a hangar, where Vice President Mike Pence and military leaders stood in respect.

Surely, Americans see this indifference as but another means by the left-leaning media to ignore the administration’s good news.

A MASSACHUSETTS WOMAN presumably let her anxiety over the Trump presidency cause her to get involved in a road rage incident with an individual who had a Trump bumper sticker on his car. After honking and shouting, the man stopped his car and confronted the woman, who called him a racist and other names.

She repositioned her car and hit his car with hers and left the scene. She was arrested later for assault with a dangerous weapon. She was freed on a $1,250 after pleading not guilty.

ANOTHER TRUMP PROMISE KEPT – There are 140 fewer employees on the White House staff under Trump than under Obama at this point in their respective presidencies. The salary total under President Trump is $35.8 million; that’s $25.1 million less than the $60.9 million total under President Obama.

First Lady Melania Trump has just five staffers versus the 44 staffers serving Michelle Obama.

And remember, President Trump does not take his salary and donates it to various government departments.

The information was released by the White House Office of Personnel, but don’t expect the media to give the president any credit for controlling staff numbers and costs.

ATTENTION BILL CLINTON – “This (Trump) is going to be the most pro-black president we’ve had in our lifetime,” said Darrell Scott, a black pastor from Ohio, adding that “this is probably the most pro-active administration regarding urban America and the faith-based community in my lifetime.” Scott spoke during a White House roundtable Wednesday that was focused on efforts to reform the prison system.

You may recall that author Toni Morrison once called President Bill Clinton “the first black president” of the United States. “White skin notwithstanding, he is our first black president,” she wrote in a 1998 piece for The New Yorker.

“This president actually wants to prove something to our community, the faith-based community and our ethnic community,” said Scott. The last president (Obama) didn’t feel that he had to,” adding “he got a pass.”

During his campaign, Trump accused Democrats of ignoring the black community until it came time to seek their votes, and Donald Trump asked, “what have you go to lose.”

THOSE RIDICULOUS CAFÉ STANDARDS established by President Obama are getting a fresh look by the Trump Department of Transportation and EPA. It means that the federal government will have slightly less control over the kinds of cars and trucks people can buy.

The move will take California out of the driver’s seat for setting standards for the entire country. Since California started to determine the fuel economy standards new car prices have increased $6,800 above the 2009 baseline trend, according to a Heritage Foundation estimate.

In addition, the federal government action is expected to reduce the threat to highway safety resulting from manufacturers producing smaller, lightweight cars.

The proposal has been released for comment.

May God bless the United State of America.
