Now it’s Kavanaugh’s illegitimacy … the Hollywood haters … and looking back over the confirmation process

Here are my observations and opinions on selected news of the day.

ILLEGITIMACY – You will recall, I am sure, how Hillary Clinton’s sore losers claimed Donald Trump to be an illegitimate president even before he was inaugurated. The boo-birds are out again, now claiming Judge Kavanaugh’s illegitimacy on the Supreme Court.

On Saturday, former Attorney General Eric Holder raised concerns over the Supreme Court’s legitimacy with the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh. He was joined by Sen. Chuck Schumer, (D-NY).

Then there’s the  chutzpah of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who, Twitchy.com points out, “(must think) her base is too dumb to know much sneaky and sideways crap she and her cohorts pulled with Ford and Kavanaugh … (and how her) failed Hail Mary set women back decades.”

Feinstein is still referring to Ford’s testimony as “credible.”

Michael Tomasky, writing in the New York Times, questioned not only the legitimacy of Kavanaugh, but that of Neil Gorsuch, because they were both nominated by President Trump, who did not capture the popular vote in 2016. “This is a severe legitimacy crisis for the Supreme Court,“ he claims. That’s a stretch.

Tomasky reveals his liberal bent in his belief that “we’re on the verge of having a five-member majority who figure to radically rewrite our nation’s laws.” He knows better.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), who would become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee if the Democrats gain control of the House, told the New York Times that he would investigate the perjury and sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.

Democrats are working overtime in an attempt to tamp down talk of impeachment of the president and Kavanaugh.

THE HOLLYWOOD CROWD that is seemingly suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, took on the role of Kavanaugh-haters during his confirmation. The usual cast of characters surfaced to oppose Kavanaugh. After all, he was selected by President Trump.

Personally, I find it difficult to take actress Alyssa Milano seriously. Sorry. Milano, who went from a role as the innocent daughter of Tony Danza on “Who’s the Boss,” a 1980’s sitcom, to a role of a prostitute and then on to adult films, and most recently was featured in two Netflix films, “Wet Hot Summer” and “Insatiable,” is simply not believable to me

Inserting themselves into political issues is futile. Real thinkers don’t take them seriously. Who could? They make a living pretending they are someone else, reading lines written by someone else.

Hollywood needs to refocus on quality film-making, missing in recent years. They’re searching the archives for a movie they can remake. Where’s the creativity?

Playing in theaters now is “A Star Is Born,” a remake of a 1937 movie, and on television we are treated to a 20-year old sitcom revival of “Murphy Brown,” the ratings of which dipped after a mediocre opening. Candace Bergan is not believable in her role at 72 years of age, and a cameo by Hillary Clinton fell flat.

LOOKING BACK OVER THE CONFIRMATION process of Judge Kavanaugh, Jim Geraghty, writing in the National Review, tells Democrats “It’s Time to Recognize That Your Kavanaugh Playbook Didn’t Work,” recalling how they jumped from tactic to tactic without success.

Following Rule #13 in “Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals” – “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it,” they proved that they failed again.

When there was no collaboration on the sexual assault allegations they leaped to the judge’s perceived drinking problem, that he once threw some ice in a bar. Oh, my gosh.

Then there was Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy’s penetrating questions over Kavanaugh’s high school yearbooks, which Geraghty humorously notes “as if they were something from ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and trying to ascribe some sinister meanings to teenage slang.”

Democrats ridiculously tried to paint him as the Bluto Blutarsky of Yale University, the role played by John Belushi in National Lampoon’s Animal House.

An editorial cartoonist even produced an ugly piece featuring one of Kavanaugh’s daughter.

Accusers came out of nowhere with alleged charges against the judge, and the media was more than willing to write about them as fact. “All of the reporters decided to abandon any pretense of objectivity and treated Kavanaugh as if he was guilty until proven innocent … and it didn’t work,” commented Geraghty.

PHIL KERPEN, writing @kerpen, says, “Dems bet it all on a bluff with a garbage hand and they got called and the GOP won a monster pot.”

May God bless the United States of America.
