Jews don’t matter to Dems … Dershowitz on H. Res. 183 … AOC back in spotlight … an unusual autograph request … the fake news crowd at it again … fund for women’s initiative in 2020 budget request … and finally

Here are my observations and opinions of my selected news of the day.

JEWS DON’T MATTER – Just five months ago, after consulting with a Jewish friend of mine, I published my “Special Report: Trying to Make Sense of the Jewish Vote,” because I have been confounded by their continued support of Democrats.

With that, you can image my shock Saturday when I read the headline, “The Democrats Make It Official: Jews Don’t Matter,” over an insightful piece by Jeff Dunetz in The Lid.

“To be honest, it more than hurts. It’s created a pit in my stomach that won’t go away,” he writes. “I am usually able to separate my emotions from the goings on in D.C., but this was different.

“I am terrified of the future. It wasn’t a political loss, it was a statement by the Democrat Party. In a 407-23 vote, the Democrat Party-led House of Representatives that me, my wife, my two kids and the other 6,850,860 Jews living in the United States do not matter.”

Referring to the anti-Semitic remarks made by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Dunetz concludes that “to address her hatred, the spineless Democrat Party leadership couldn’t muster the courage to stand up to Omar’s anti-Semitism.

“Instead, they passed a generic resolution that basically said that being mean to others is a bad thing. Really? I learned that lesson when I was a child watching programs such as Romper Room, Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo.”

Dunetz reminds his readers that he warned that the Democrat Party was becoming anti-Semitic in a piece he posted on January 29, 2007. Now, he frets that anti-Semitism has metastasized and infected much of the party.

He is sorrowed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims the anti-Semites, like Omar, don’t really mean it.

Dunetz is also troubled by liberal Juan Williams’ comment on Fox that most Jews don’t really mind Representative Omar’s anti-Semitic statements … it’s really all about Republicans trying to divide the Democrat Party. “He can hurt by racist comments, but doesn’t believe Jews can have human feelings.”

THE WISDOM OF DERSHOWITZ – I have frequently quoted attorney Alan Dershowitz on various matters because I value his opinion, even though he is an avowed Democrat.

Appearing on the Fox News Channel Saturday morning, he was questioned about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to discipline Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her anti-Semite remarks by not removing her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Clearly upset with Pelosi’s decision to detract from Omar’s remarks by having an all-inclusive “hate” list become the content of H. Res. 183, Dershowitz adroitly drew the analogy of the Black Lives Matter movement of 2013. He recalled the uproar by blacks when some people offered that “all lives matter,” and “blue lives” (for the police) matter. The blacks were not to be denied their ownership of what lives matter.

Pelosi was heavily criticized earlier this year for saying she believed “all lives matter.” In view of her decision to include every possible “ism” and “phobia” in H. Res. 183, it’s obvious that the Jewish vote means less to her than the black vote.

ALEXANDRA OCASIO-CORTEZ took back the spotlight from Omar during an appearance in the liberal haven of Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Conference & Festivals this past weekend.

She slammed the views of moderates as she defended her progressive politics in a room filled with her supporters, and went on to criticize the treatment of minorities by the likes of Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose New Deal she claimed was racist, to Ronald Reagan’s policies, which she said “pitted” white working class people against minorities in order “to screw over all working class Americans,” particularly blacks and Hispanics.  She referred to the current state of the United States as “garbage.”

AMERICAN THINKER’S Rich Moran views Ocasio-Cortez’ ignorance as an indictment of the public school system and colleges for the failure of teaching students how to think critically. “Liberal educators who knew the only way they could impart their vision of American and American history is if they were able to prevent even simple questions from being asked.

Try to make sense of this. In her view, capitalism cannot be redeemed because it puts profits “above everything else.” She insists on putting “society first,” but isn’t able to respond to who is going to determine what, in society, should be “first.” Who sets priorities? Who will determine what’s best for everyone? What if a lot of people disagree?

“AOC cannot imagine anyone disagreeing with her social justice agenda,” says Moran. “It is so self-evidently “good” and “compassionate” and “just” that anyone who disagrees is a racist pig who need to be reeducated.”

Gatlin, a young volunteer with her Bible, autographed by President Trump. (Sally Pitts, WSFA)

AN UNUSUAL AUTOGRAPH REQUEST by a young volunteer at the tornado clean-up site at Providence Baptist Church was honored by President Trump as he and the First Lady met with families. The president has been asked to sign a variety of items during visits – caps, t-shirts, even dollar bills – but on this occasion, he signed the cover of a Bible.

DID YOU NOTICE how the fake news crowd used the lower than expected jobs report to paint a picture of the Trump administration falling apart?

Fewer jobs (despite higher wages and record unemployment), no help from Democrats on the border emergency, required to veto pending legislation, no agreement with Kim in Hanoi, the Cohen testimony, and still no deal on tariffs with China.

My God, he might as well throw in the towel.

HINT OF WHAT’S COMINGPresident Trump’s 2020 budget proposal will include $100 million for the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. It will be interesting to see if the distaff side of Congress will support it, or oppose it simply because it was spearheaded by Ivanka Trump.

In view of the Democrat myth that a “war on women” is being fought from within the Trump administration, will that “diversity proud” party credit the president for this effort? We’ll see.

AND FINALLY … from Matthew Continetti of the Washington Free Beacon:

“Whatever control Pelosi had over her majority vanished the second she delayed the resolution condemning Omar. It then became undeniable that AOC & Co. is in charge. Identity politics has rendered the Democrats incapable of criticizing anti-Semitism. It’s nothing short of incredible that three women from three different cities – New York, Detroit and Minneapolis – can run roughshod over 233 other House Democrats.”
