Trump’s job approval at 51 percent … Dems bow to Sharpton … more on the Biden-Obama relationship … and the Dems pivot to president’s tax returns

Her are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

TRUMP JOB PERFORMANCE UP AGAIN – The Rasmussen Report, the only nationally recognized public opinion firm that still tracks the president’s job approval on a daily basis, on Friday revealed that President Trump’s rating was at 51 percent among likely U.S. voters.

AL SHARPTON seemed a bit sensitive over the stories generated about the Democrat presidential candidates appearing at his National Action Network convention to kiss the ring of the kingmaker. “Don’t let them say (that) … I don’t wear a ring,” he was quick to say.

Kramerontheright believes they were there to kiss something else.

“That may be true,” writes Rick Moran in PJ Media, “In fact, Sharpton is more like a mob boss, demanding fealty and tribute from his capo underlings.” And that’s what he got as evidenced by the remarks that emerged from the meeting.

While Barack Obama kept Sharpton at arm’s length, Sharpton’s endorsement is now considered vital for Democrats wanting to be president, according to Moran.

Reparations was a major topic for discussion, and they all fell in line with Sharpton. Even Bernie Sanders reversed his opposition on reparations, and agreed to study the issue.

Until Sharpton pushed Robert Francis O’Rourke on reparations, it wasn’t a focus of his convention speech. However, when Sharpton asked him if he would support Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s proposed commission to study reparations, O’Rourke did a 180 and didn’t hesitate to say “yes.”

John Hickenlooper, too, was pinned down by Sharpton before he agreed,

Similarly, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg was forced to give a mea culpa for using the term, “all lives matter,” after the Black Lives Matter movement

Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Julian Castro wasted no time to jump on the reparations bandwagon. Amy Klobuchar prefers “investing” in racially torn communities.

Reparations would be an outrageous injustice, as pretty much everyone who won’t be cashing a check recognizes.” Rick Moran

Although not a candidate for anything now, except perhaps to drive the clown car of Democrat candidates, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez “just had to be on the speaker list.” Speaking in a southern drawl, she told the predominately black audience that there is nothing wrong with menial work, like folding clothes, cooking, and driving people around on a bus.”

REFLECTING BACK to my April 3, 2019 post, “Biden and Obama,” in which I told you that I was skeptical of an Obama endorsement of Biden for president, I ran across a piece, “Obama Could Save Biden, So Where Is He?” in the Conservative Angle.

“So far,” the article states, “Obama is leaving Biden twist in the wind, as he remains absolutely silent.

“So, where is the chosen one, Barack Obama, who surely would not leave his buddy, his former VP, without a friend in this moment where the young hard left is circling the old guard Democrats and forcing them to play by the rules they foolishly backed?”

You may recall that Obama bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Biden at the close of his second term. “You were the first decision I made as a nominee, and it was the best,” Obama said in his farewell address. “Not just because you have been a great vice president, but because in the bargain I gained a brother.”

Scuttlebutt in the swamp is that Obama favors Kamala Harris in the race.

THOSE EVER PIVOTING LIBERALS – Now that it appears that President Trump will survive the collusion and obstruction charges the left was sure would pave the way for his impeachment, House committees have now pivoted to seek other means to confound his presidency – demanding receipt of the complete, unredacted Mueller report; subpoenaing 81 administration officials in search of imagined skullduggery; and now the official request for six years of the president’s tax returns.

In a letter to Charles P. Rettig, Commissioner of the IRS, from Robert Neal, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Chairman, Neal would have us believe his request for the president’s 2013-2018 tax returns was within the authority of his committee.

Unbelievably, Neal found it necessary to remind the IRS chief that his committee had oversight over federal tax laws. “Consistent with its authority, the Committee is considering legislative proposals and conducting oversight related to our Federal tax laws, including, but not limited to, the extent to which the IRS audits and enforces the Federal tax laws against a President.

“Pursuant to my authority under Internal Revenue Code section 6103(f), for each of the tax years of 2013 through 2018, I request the following return information …” A long list followed.

You’ve got to hand it to Neal. He sure made going on a fishing expedition to land a big one sound official and authoritative.

I wish him luck. I recall the unsuccessful attempt by a Republican-led committee that sought information from the IRS on Lois Lerner’s targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-free approvals.

Obama attorneys general Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch refused to cooperate and blocked investigations.

May God bless the United States of America.
