Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

HAPPY TAX DAY – Yes, on this Tax Day, we can celebrate the fact that an overwhelming majority of people are being taxed less, thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Republicans … Republicans alone … passed in 2017. “No fewer than four out of five taxpayers saw a reduction thanks to the law,” the Washington Examiner editorial board noted.

NOT IN MY BACKYARD – It has been just fine with the open borders crowd to release migrants into Phoenix, Las Cruces, El Paso and McAllen with no concern over where they eventually settle … Denver? … St. Louis? … Peoria? … Nashville? And they know that there is no expectation that they will return for their asylum court appearance.

The NIMBY’s talk a good game. You know – ‘we are a nation of immigrants,’ – ‘they’re just wanting a job and a better life’ – but rather than welcoming them with open arms, as they say everyone else should do, they say the president’s idea of sending them to sanctuary cities is unacceptable. They accuse the president of targeting his political foes, because all of those sanctuary cities are Democrat-led.

“Sanctuary cities are the hot trend only as long as they are politically convenient for the Democrats and only as long as those illegal immigrants cooling their heels on our border don’t come anywhere near their pristine utopias,” writes Nina Bookout in the Victory Girls blog.

MEANWHILE, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the state’s second most populous city, Border Patrol agents continue to drop off asylum-seeking migrants there, prompting city officials to appeal for donations of food and personal hygiene items and volunteers to provide medical assistance. Ninety-five illegals were dropped off on Friday, and another 85 on Saturday.

Las Cruces is not a sanctuary city, and a city spokesman predicts additional “drop-offs” over the next several days.

IN PHOENIX – Greyhound Bus Terminal officials instructed Border Patrol to stop dropping illegals off there.

THE WALK-AWAY MOVEMENT is alive and active in Columbus County, North Carolina, where 72 Democrats, including County Commissioner Ricky Bullard have walked away from their party and switched registration to become Republicans.

A HANDFULL OF CRITICS in Laguna Beach, California are upset over the use of the American flag in the new graphic being painted on the city’s new police cars. Local artist Carrie Woodburn, appearing at a city council meeting, said it was “shocking to see the boldness of the design … it feels very aggressive.”

Attorney Jennifer Welsh Zeitner, however, found the design “exceptional” and questioned the loyalty of anyone who objected to the American flag display. They are so filled with hatred toward this office of the president of the United States and the current occupant of that office, that they cannot see through their current biases to realize that police vehicle with the American flag is the ultimate American expression.”

The graphic that was unanimously approved in February, will be reconsidered by the council on Tuesday. My bet is that the council will cave.

MEDICARE-FOR-ALL seeks utopia by giving government centralized power and control over every aspect of medicine via a single-payer model, and comes with an astronomical price tag, according to Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie writing in The Hill.

“The cost in dollars is in the trillions, but there is also another hidden cost: the elimination of the conscience rights of nurses and doctors.”

LOOK NO FURTHER THAN ENGLAND if you’re wondering how Medicare-for-All would work as reports of the collapse of the U.K.’s National Health System continue to slip out with horror stories of rationing care for the elderly, writes Tammy Bruce in the Washington Times.

While people are having to wait for 12 hours to be seen in emergency rooms, doctors are complaining about third world conditions caused by overcrowding.

Some patients are losing their sight as they wait for months to have cataracts removed because of cost cutting, while others may be restricted from getting that surgery as 104 of the 195 NHS clinics now consider cataract removal on their list of “procedures of limited clinical value.”

YOU SHOULD BE AWARE that nearly all of the Democrat candidates for president favor Medicare-for-All, as do 100 Democrat members of the House.
