Here are my observations and opinions of my selected news of the day.
HEY, HEY, GIT YER PROGRAM HERE, ya can’t tell your racists without a program.
Yesterday, I wrote of CNN host Randi Kaye’s unsuccessful attempt to get one or more of the Republican women in her focus group to acknowledge President Trump was a racist.
Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) hit back at the main street media for its coverage. “I think the news media wants to make this about race … you just did it,” Cheney told Margaret Brennan, who interrupted Cheney 12 times during the interview.
“This isn’t about race. It’s not about gender. It’s not about religion,” Cheney added, it’s about Democrat “policies that are dangerous to this nation. And as Republicans, we are going to fight against those, even if the mainstream media accuses us of racism when we do that.”
Democrat presidential candidate Cory Booker went a step further saying, “The reality is this is a guy (Trump) who is worse than a racist,” during his appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Perhaps the most disgraceful comments came from House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings during his appearance on ABC’s “This Week.” Asked by host George Stephanopoulos, “Do you believe President Trump is a racist?” Cummings paused for several seconds before answering, “no doubt about it.”
Cummings followed with two utterly ridiculous comments. “These young ladies are merely trying to bring excellence to government. I interact with them every day. These are women who love their country. They work very hard to move us toward that more perfect union that our founding fathers talked about.”
“Talked about,” Congressman? The wrote it? It’s in the preamble to our Constitution for heaven’s sake.
Then, Cummings shamelessly suggested that all the talk about racism “takes him back to the era of segregation in the early 1960’s,” pointing to his forehead where he was hit during a protest march.
I thought I had heard it all when Democrat Socialist Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez referred to Nancy Pelosi as a racist when she singled out the Mob Squad as the “newly elected women of color.”
I believe Fox New Channel’s Brit Hume put the who “racist thing” in perspective when he tweeted @brithume: “Trump’s ‘go back’ comments were nativist, xenophobic, countertactful and politically stupid. But they simply do not meet the standard definition of racist, a word so recklessly flung around these days that it’s actual meaning is being lost.”
MEANWHILE, President Trump’s approval ratings in the South have ticked upward, with 54 percent of voters giving a thumbs-up on the he’s handling his job, according to Dareh Gregorian , reporting on the latest NBCNews/Monkey Survey online poll.
The survey of voters encompassed 11 southern states where the voters either “strongly approved” or “somewhat approved” of his performance. His highest rating (60 percent) came from Alabama, while the lowest (48 percent) came from neighboring Georgia.
THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC’S left leaning columnist Laurie Roberts always uses her column to criticize our Republican Sen. Martha McSally when she votes in support of President Trump.
I’m not holding my breath, but I wonder what she will say about Democrat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who joined with Republicans calling for the implementation of a pilot program that would work to quickly identify and deport migrants at the border who are judged not to have a valid asylum claim.
THOSE TWISTED DEMOCRATS – Remember when Elizabeth Warren stated that we face a bigger challenge with climate change than the Allies faced in World War II? Here’s another, from a Democrat hack.
In her op-ed, “Mueller holds fate of our democracy in his hands; This is ex-Marine’s most important fight,” Democrat strategist Mary Anne Marsh devoted two paragraphs in her lead to tell of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s impressive career as a Marine in Vietnam; a recipient of a number of medals for his distinguished service.
Marsh refers to Mueller’s testimony on Wednesday as “the most important fight of his life and our country. The fate of our democracy rests in his ability to persuade Congress and the country to act on the Mueller Report because the subjects of his investigation are a greater threat to us than the enemy he faced as a Marine.”
Mueller earned the Bronze Star with “V” for combat valor when he rescued a wounded Marine under enemy fire by the Viet Cong. If Mueller viewed Donald Trump as a greater threat, he belittles his combat service.
“Mueller must understand that the terms of engagement have changed. It is incumbent upon Mueller to explain clearly and pointedly exactly what Trump, his associates, and Russia did to illegally interfere in the 2016 election. Just as adjustments are made on the battlefield when facing enemy combatants so, too, must Mueller change the way he makes his case before Congress,” hopes Marsh.
It’s as if she is trying to prep Mueller, who has been instructed not to stray from the content of his report.
Unbelievably, after building up Mueller’s Marine service, she painted a picture of Mueller as a shriveling recruit during his May 29, 2019 public statement. “His quaking voice at the outset made clear Mueller’s disbelief about what he was about to share with the country and the threat we face from Russia as well as those who cooperated with them including numerous Americans.”
Who are those “numerous Americans,” who cooperated with the Russians, Ms. Marsh?
A SIDE NOTE: The embarrassing Marsh was advisor to John “Swift Boat” Kerry.
JIM TREACHER’S QUOTE @jtLOL is worth repeating: “Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn’t know because they might reflect badly on Democrats.”
May God continue to bless the United States
