Here are my observations and opinions from my selected news of the day.
HARRIS FINALLY CALLS IT QUITS – “On paper, Kamala Harris was a strong candidate for the Democratic nomination: likely to boost turnout among women and African-Americans, a relatively fresh face, access to a big network of California donors,” wrote Jim Geraghty in National Review.
But Tuesday, the arrogant Harris bowed out of the race. “(Harris), who was indomitable in theory. proved to be pretty unappealing in the harsh glare of the national spotlight, stuck in a crowded field,” commented Geraghty.
“(Harris’s) whole campaign has been a bunch of people sitting around a table giving opinions and then not backing them up when it comes down to it,” a top aide claimed, adding, “The apparatus wasted her talent more than she blew it.”
Harris’s sister, Maya, has been blamed for the candidate’s disastrous campaign, “But the only person who blew Kamala Harris’s campaign was Kamala Harris,” remarked Libby Emmons, of The Federalist.
Fox News’ Chris Stirewalt commented that she struggled to “articulate a distinct reason for her candidacy.”
So, the snarky Harris, who wanted to be the first black woman to be president, will now return to the Senate, where mark my word, she will be insufferable if the impeachment process gets there. Surely, you recall her haughty performance during the Kavanaugh hearings.
AND DID YOU HEAR that two other Democrats bowed out of the presidential race? Steve Bullock and Joe Sestak. What? You’ve never heard of them? Well that explains a lot. By the way, Bullock is governor of Montana and Sestak is a former Pennsylvania congressman.
SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS, 60 percent of them, approve of the way President Trump is handling his job, the highest approval rating since CNBC and SurveyMonkey began its quarterly Small Business Survey in 2017.
ELIZABETH WARREN’S GOAL is to get elected and then abolish the unfair corrupt system that elected her, according to Allahpundit. “I plan to be the last president to be elected by the Electoral College. I want my second term to be elected by direct vote,” the dreaming Warren tweeted.
For someone who is trying to get the votes of the people in states that count on the Electoral College – Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina – that should tell them about Warren and her phony interest in rural America.
“She knows that abolishing the Electoral College is unimaginable in the near future, even if some of her lower-information supporters don’t,” tweeted David French. “This is simply litmus test stuff for her base.”
“Making absurd, completely unrealistic promises is rapidly becoming her specialty.” – David French
ANOTHER REASON WE SHOULD BE GLAD that Donald Trump was elected president. Since his election, he has complained about the inequitable burden-sharing, with just nine of the 29 member countries meeting the two percent of gross domestic product target. Eighteen countries are expected to meet the two percent goal by 2024.
The U.S. will be paying less of the bill for NATO beginning in 2021. Instead of paying 22 percent of the NATO budget, we will be paying 16 percent.
“This is tremendous progress, and I think it is due to the president’s diplomatic work.“ – Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General
Do you think the media will give the president credit for this? No chance. This wouldn’t have even been on Hillary Clinton’s agenda had she been elected.
AND DID YOU HEAR how President Trump responded to French President Emmanuel Macron’s comment that “NATO suffers from a “brain drain?” He referred to Macron’s remark as “dangerous” and “insulting” to the other alliance members. Don’t expect CNN or MSNBC to report that.
JOHN KERRY WANTS TO TREAT CLIMATE CHANGE LIKE A WAR – The “swift boater” appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press to announce that he has launched a group called World War Zero (for zero emissions no doubt) alongside famous leaders and celebrities, including Bill Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
What are they going to do? They’re going to talk to billions of people (yes, billions) to raise awareness and make sure they put climate change “at the top of the list.” Wow. Now that’s going to bring climate under control.
What list? The list of ways to spend taxpayer funds?
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
