Death knell for Academy Awards … a diversity mandate … stop fretting over Woodward … how Biden caused panic … more distractions … Noonan’s at it again … and no trust in the media by registered voters in CBS poll

THOSE ACADEMY AWARDS – I lost interest in the Academy Awards years ago.  I like to make up my own mind on what movies are worth seeing and whether a certain actor or actress was outstanding.

Last week, the awards people released new eligibility rules for nominations to vie for the vaunted gold-plated statue.  Behind the decision was a scheme for movie creators to produce films that “reflect our diverse population in both the creation of motion pictures and in audiences who connect with them.”

I won’t go into all of the requirements, but I will cite one example: At least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors must come from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.  You get the idea.

As I began thinking about how the Hollywood leftists were again doing their in- your-face schtick, the bright, cheerful song, “Hooray for Hollywood” came to mind.

The song, composed by Richard A. Whiting, was first sung in a 1937 film, “Hollywood Hotel.” You won’t hear Johnny Mercer’s lyrics to that song during future awards shows or any other show, for that matter. Remember this line? Hooray for Hollywood, you may be homely in your neighborhood, but if you actor, see Mr. Factor, he’d make a monkey look good.”

The politically correct police say that the use of the word “monkey” is a dog whistle for a black person, and that makes the song racist.

There are fewer movies worth seeing now, and with these self-imposed rules, they movie-goers will be fewer and fewer, too.

STOP FRETTING OVER THE WOODWARD BOOK – You know President Trump was reasonable in not wanting to panic Americans over the China virus, and instead wanted to keep Americans calm.

By now, you have heard that Bob Woodward learned of the president’s desire to prevent a panic for months.  And we all know why Woodward held it to this point so close to Election Day.

Of course, the media saw it as another Trump outrage that they can use to create more negative publicity against a president they disdain, because he publicly calls them out. He’s wise to them.

Woodward and his anti-Trump colleagues in the media tried their best to say the president lied.  The president obviously knew the virus could be serious, otherwise he wouldn’t have cut off traffic to and from China.

Surely, you recall how the president was mocked over that decision by Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Joe Biden.

While the president tried to remain upbeat in those early months, he gave the experts – Doctors Fauci, Birx and others – opportunities to present facts during daily press briefings.

LET’S REVIEW BIDEN’S ACTIONS – He called the president’s move to cut off traffic with China, “xenophobic” and “racist.”

Need further evidence that the former vice president has lost it?

During the H1N1 outbreak, Joe Biden, appearing on NBC’s Today Show, set off a deluge of criticism when he said he wouldn’t advise his family to fly on planes or ride the subway.  How’s that for creating a panic?  The airlines were so angry that they accused Biden of fearmongering, according to Politico.

Then Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, and Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew were summoned to the White House and assigned to clean up the mess Biden made.  Their instructions?  Nip it in the bud.  Within a few hours they were backing away from Biden’s remark in meetings with the media.

Will the media ever get the opportunity to remind Biden of his actions, of which Politico said were “not equivalent to leading the response” for the Obama-Biden administration?

SHE’S AT IT AGAIN – Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, the east coast elitist, devoted nearly all of her column to further damage President Trump as he seeks reelection.

She seemingly scolds her colleagues who cover Trump for not being “fully in touch with how much his own voters disapprove of him,” admitting she has written of this before.  She doesn’t understand their support of this man.

ELITIST NOONAN will never understand Trump supporters.

Noonan would have you believe she “was in a car on a long ride with a friend who will vote for Trump.”  She claims to have read the breaking story about Woodward’s book to her friend, and couldn’t understand her friend’s turning the discussion to Woodward’s lack of integrity.

Not satisfied, Noonan later asked if the story might shake her intention to vote for him, and had to be displeased with her “no” response, following with her belief that Trump told Woodward he didn’t want a panic.

That didn’t stop Noonan.  She recalled a lot of letters from Trump supporters who are critical of him, while sullying her column with name-calling, hoping to sway her readers away from Trump

Still not satisfied, Noonan writes, “back to my friend in the car,” as she asks what would it take for her not to vote for him.  It would have to be something big, truthful, that put peoples’ lives in danger.

“She didn’t care about his personal life, didn’t care if the people around him say he’s bad,” the “friend” told Noonan, adding that she was “afraid Democrats would make economy worse.”

Unable to concede defeat, that Trump supporters are loyal to the man that kept his promises, Noonan went further in the mud and surfaced The Atlantic piece, with its anonymous sources.  Like her “friend” and “those who write letters.”

ANOTHER DISTRACTION – Most recently, there was The Atlantic magazine story with its anonymous sources claiming that the president defiled our military servicemen was debunked.  Then came Bob Woodward’s timely surfacing of a story that the president lied about the seriousness of the virus.

The latest effort designed to turn President Trump’s supporters against him came with the resignation of Nora Dannehy, who was on U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigative team looking into DOJ/FBI corruption.  Like the Democrats, Dannehy is accusing Attorney General Bill Barr with undue influence in attempt to have Durham’s findings unveiled prior to Election Day.

We also learned that some 30 government-owned cell phones, used by Robert Mueller’s investigative team may have been wiped clean.  Un-American?  Yes. They are part of the enemy within, who have spent four years trying to bring down the Trump presidency.

Durham better release his findings before the election, because on the off-chance Biden wins, they will never see the light of day.

HAVE SOME COMFORT IN KNOWING that while the left is trying to distract you,  a recent CBS poll of registered voters, ranked the national media dead last at 35 percent, in terms of trust … behind the president, the CDC, and the governors of those polled in individual states.

FINALLY, PONDER THIS – Mini AOC Tweets @ RealMiniAOC: “Does Ilhan Omar open her presents on 9/11 Eve, or does she wait till morning.”
