WHAT A CROCK – Of all people, CNN’s Brian Stelter scolded C-Span’s Steve Scully for “causing real damage to the national news media’s reputation” adding “what was he thinking?”
GOOD-BYE, BRUCE – It happens every presidential election cycle. A celebrity vows to leave the United States and move to Canada or elsewhere if the candidate they opposed wins, though they rarely follow through.
Bruce Springsteen declared that he will move to Australia if President Trump is reelected. Good-bye, Bruce. I suggest you move to Melbourne, where I understand residents are really happy with their political leadership.
PREDICITNG THE END OF DEMOCRACY if President Trump were to win reelection, was lightweight Joy Behar on “The View,” while urging voters not to get complacent.
She foolishly suggested that NBC was effectively shilling for the president, reminding viewers of his once successful show, “The Apprentice.” Surely she knows that NBC and MSNBC are not in Trump’s camp, as evidenced by the townhall attack host performance of Savannah Guthrie.
CRAZY MAZIE Hirono, the junior senator from Hawaii, continues to embarrass as she reads her hearing statements in a dull monotone. She seems to be aware that she isn’t connecting, so she throws out something ridiculous to remind everyone of her audacity.
“Since you became a legal adult,” Hirono asked Supreme Court nominee Amy Cony Barrett, “have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of a sexual nature?”
Though Barrett responded with a “no,” Hirono pressed on with “Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement related to this kind of conduct?”
Again, Barrett responded with a “no,” while I imagined her forming in her mind an opinion of Hirono. Something she probably did during her earlier appearance before the committee.
TOP THIS JOE – President Trump continued to outpace Joe Biden Friday, speaking to a seniors’ group in Fort Meyers, Florida in the morning, followed by an hour and a half afternoon speech to a big crowd at the Ocala airport. He then travelled to the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon, Georgia for an evening appearance.
THE LEFT’S BAD GREEN DREAM – I hesitate to devote much space in an effort to convince you that the left’s dream of ridding us of fossil fuels in favor of an all-electric energy policy is fool hearty. I think you already know that.
One of my readers recently sent me a link to a compelling PragerU video, “What’s Wrong With Wind and Solar,” a five-minute piece easily found on the Internet. I highly recommend watching it and forwarding it to your friends.
In the latest edition of Washington Examiner magazine, Mark Mills, the senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, who narrates the PragerU video, authored an insightful article, “The Myth of the Great ‘Energy Transition,” also recommended.
An interesting perspective on the desire to move from fossil-fueled to all-electric vehicles was presented by Mills, comparing the velocity of Tesla’s growth, selling over 500,000 cars in the first six years after introduction, with the introduction of the Ford Mustang 56 years ago, when Ford sold 2.5 million Mustangs in the first six years, without subsidies.
Mills reminds readers that Tesla buyers get a $7,500 subsidy from the federal government, and up to another $7,000 in California.
Ford now plans to introduce an all-electric Mustang in 2021 that will sell in the $60,000 car category. The e-Mustang will cost 300 percent more than the original Mustang (adjusted for inflation). A far cry from the Ford of yesteryear when they recognized that it took sizzle at an affordable price.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
