“It’s time to shake the rust off America’s foreign policy. It’s time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold. America first will be the major and overriding theme of my administration.” – President Trump, April 27, 2016
Commentary
Like a sleepy groundhog, Joe Biden emerged from his basement to announce that “America is back,” further evidence that he is oblivious to the foreign policy achievements of President Trump since he left office in 2017.
Introducing his national security selections – Clinton and Obama retreads – he referred to them as “public servants” who will restore our global leadership … a team that reflects the fact that America is back, ready to lead the world, not retreat from it.”
What Trump retreated from was the “lead from behind policy” of Obama-Biden and their apology’s for America’s power, and refusal to speak of America’s greatness.
“(Biden) has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over four decades.” – Robert Gates, May 13, 2019.
During the 2020 campaign, much was written about the savvy people that will surround Biden if he won the presidency, recognizing his mental and physical shortcomings.
Trump’s 2016 Campaign Focused on Domestic Issues
While most of candidate Trump’s promises involved domestic issues, he wasted no time in righting the wrongs of the eight-year Obama-Biden failures in foreign policy.
He was elected president of the United States, not the world, and pledged to make America great again, by instituting his America first strategy. He didn’t abandon our relationships around the world, but put other leaders on notice that we were no longer going to be their police force, their “piggy bank.” Tough love would be the practice.
In his first year, he delivered strong messages of continued support of NATO in Brussels and Warsaw, while successfully persuading member countries to pay their fair share. It prompted NATO secretary general Jan Stolenberg to praise Trump.
Trump Addressed Obama’s Failures
Is Biden aware that Trump succeeded where Obama failed, making it possible for our formerly handcuffed warriors to destroy the ISIS caliphate, and bring an end to the lives of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Iranian terror mastermind Qasem Soleimani? Remember, Biden was opposed to Obama’s decision to bring down Bin Laden.
I wonder, did one of Biden’s “global leadership” super-stars inform him that Ukraine was gratified to receive the requested anti-tank missiles Trump provided after Obama-Biden refused and provided blankets and medical supplies?
Trump kept the promise Barack Obama and George W. Bush failed to keep and paved the way for Jerusalem to become Israel’s capital.
And, the Trump administration’s effort to further contain Iran with the Abraham Accord, a Mideast Peace Plan that has been signed with several nation’s on board, has resulted in legitimate Trump nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
In addition to pulling out of the flawed John Kerry (Obama-Biden) Iranian nuclear deal, he placed heavy sanctions on that terrorist state, doing considerable damage to its economy.
While the left viewed Trump’s meetings with North Korea’s Kim Jung Un as mere photo ops that haven’t produced results on the nuclear front, Kim has since been less belligerent.
Pre-pandemic, Trump had strengthened our trade policy with China, however, with China’s introduction of Covid-19, he announced the U.S. intention to concentrate on producing our own pharmaceuticals with further emphasis on buy American.
The Biden team has been quick to talk about the congratulatory messages received from foreign leaders. Naturally. They see relief from Trump pressure.
Those on the left frequently refer to negative statements made by foreign leaders about President Trump. So what! Who are they … with all of their internal and regional problems … to criticize our president?
Never-Trumpers and disillusioned former staffers, like the disappointing former Defense Secretary James Mattis, who said that the U.S. needed to do more to show respect to American allies, refuse to acknowledge that showing strength, rather than appeasement, has resulted in relative peace. The world does not benefit from a weakened America.
Finally, Biden needs to be reminded that thanks to fracking and President Trump’s regulatory relief, the U.S. has become energy independent, greatly enhancing our national security position in the world.
So far, Biden has promised to return the U.S. to the Paris Accord and the Iran nuclear deal and the financial commitments involved. Still no word on the Abraham Accord in the Middle East, however, where the “big catch” was expected to be Saudi Arabia. It is believed that the Arab nation was reluctant to join until negotiations with the Biden White House could be secured.
The Obama Influence
Biden insisted that Obama wasn’t on the ballot and his term won’t reflect an Obama third term. We’ll see. With Biden’s frequent use of “global leadership,” one must wonder.
“The Obama administration’s foreign policy (was) firmly based on unilateral American global leadership,” recalls Jack Smith of Global Research. It was one of the reasons the U.S. foreign policy establishment favored the election of Barack Obama in 2008. “The Bush administration had weakened the structure of American hegemony, domination and world leadership,” Smith noted.
In a speech at the State Department just days after taking office, Obama declared, “Let there be no doubt about America’s commitment to lead. A new era of American leadership is at hand.”
In contrast, shortly after taking office in 2016, President Trump told an audience at the Center for National Interest, “We will no longer surrender this country or its people to the false song of globalism. The nation-state remains the true foundation for happiness and harmony. I am skeptical of international unions that ties us up and bring American down and will never enter.
“Under a Trump administration, no American citizen will never again feel their needs come second to the citizens of a foreign country.”
PONDER THIS – Considering the current popular vote count, do you believe it’s possible for Biden to get more votes than Obama in precincts he won, and more than Hillary Clinton in precincts she won? Biden winning 80 million votes is inconceivable.
“The future belongs to sovereign and independent nations, who protect their citizens, respect their neighbors and honor the differences that make each country special and unique. The future does not belong to globalists.” – President Trump, UN General Assembly, September 24, 2019
AND FOR THE LAST TIME – Those “cages” we were told that President Trump used to detain immigrant children on the southern border, were not cages. They were chain-link room dividers, designed to better keep watch over them, and they were ordered built by none other than President Barack Hussein Obama.
Appearing on the Breakfast Club radio show to promote his book, Obama had the audacity to again refer to President Trump putting “undocumented workers in cages,” thus perpetuating the myth created by the leftist media.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
