Biden’s Actions are Spiteful of President Trump
I’m certainly not advocating rioting in the streets, but I wonder just how much of President Biden’s outrageous actions we can tolerate.
In his first month in office, he has taken a number of actions that can clearly be identified as vindictiveness against former President Trump.
Yes, I recall those statements he made in his abbreviated campaign, but I also heard him say he would respect science. It turns out that was a lie, too.
His dislike of Trump was highly evident in his cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline, ignoring Trump’s success in making the U.S. energy free.
It appears that we are seeing President Obama’s third term. Biden ignored science and his own prior Obama-Biden state department regarding the environment and safety.
The state department, which controls permits that cross international boundaries, concluded that neither approval nor rejection of the project would significantly alter the globe’s overall carbon output. Yet, Obama rejected Keystone.
Compared to the long-haul transport of oil by rail, moving oil by pipeline produces 60 to 70 percent less emissions. The pipeline moves oil at a cost of $5 per gallon, compared to $10-15 per gallon by rail. Movement by train and truck are more dangerous.
It would take 15,000 tanker trucks, or 6,300 rail cars to transport the daily 800,000 gallons moved by pipeline.
The leftist media have failed to report that the Keystone would add just 1,600 miles of pipeline to the three million miles of pipelines already crossing much of the United States.
No, I haven’t forgotten the 11,000 jobs Keystone jobs and the many support jobs held by individuals in restaurants, hotels and motels, truck dealers and those in the supply chain.
Stacks of 80-foot-long pipe, 48,000 tons of steel, enough to continue the Keystone 100 miles, now sit idle in North Dakota.
Sadly, the cancellation of the Keystone is merely more symbolism as Biden seeks approval by the Europeans controlling the Paris Accord. Climate czar John Kerry has said that even if zero emissions were achieved it would have no difference on climate.
The Negative Side of Alternative Energy
The recent winter storm across Texas should have given pause to the “greens,” as ice-caked windmill blades refused to move.
And I’m sure that Biden’s experts – Kerry, McCarthy and Granholm – haven’t clued-in old Joe about the problem encountered with disposing of worn blades. Some 900 blades have been trucked to their final resting ground, a municipal landfill in Casper, Wyoming because they cannot be crushed or recycled. The blades are nearly as long a 747’s wing.
The disposal pf solar panels, nearing their estimated 25-year lifetimes, are about to be another problem. Though the panels contain aluminum, copper, silver and silicon, recycling will be costly and difficult. If dumped in a landfill, the toxic materials could leach out and become an environment hazard as they break down.
And the Biden administration wants to stop the use of fossil fuels by 2050. I’d like to see the plan for accomplishing this. What about the thousands of consumer products made from fossil fuels?
