On April 18, 2021, I wrote about the “clueless” Biden administration as I referenced his decision on Afghanistan, easing sanctions on Iran and ignoring the crisis on our southern border.
Just four days later, President Biden issued a pledge to some 40 leaders attending the virtual World Climate Summit, that the United States would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 to 52 percent from the levels of 2005, and do so by 2030.
“Biden himself has absolutely no idea how this might be accomplished. And indeed, it will not be accomplished,” wrote Frances Menton in Manhattan Contrarian.
Why, because he’s clueless, and so are those pulling his strings. John Kerry, Jennifer Granholm, and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez for starters.
They’re simply clueless at what it will take to achieve the zero emissions fantasy. There are some 1,800 coal and natural gas power plants generating electricity today. All those power plants will have to either shut down or be converted into zero-emissions power plants, that latter of which is hardly doable.
Such an undertaking would require that more than 11 fossil fuel plants would need to cease operation each month, on average. It’s not going to happen.
I recently mentioned how Kerry went to China in preparation for the Summit with the wild thought that he could get the Chinese to sacrifice and restrict their economy in the name of fighting climate change.
At the Summit, however, China’s vice foreign minister Le Yucheng, a realist, said it was unlikely he would make any new pledge. “These goals are not easily achieved,” he said, with an honesty the U.S. delegation could not realistically address.
“Some countries are asking China to address the goals,” he said, “I’m afraid these are not realistic.”
“China welcomes the U.S. return to the Paris agreement, and expects the U.S. to uphold the agreement, shoulder its due responsibilities and make due contributions,” said China’s Vice Premier Han Zhen
China, India and Russia really don’t give a whit about climate change. They’re delighted to see us sacrifice our economy in this fanciful cause under the guise of the Paris Accord, a scam of major proportions.
Meanwhile, President Biden continues to talk about the existential threat of climate change, destroying thousands of energy-related jobs before any of those “green” jobs become a reality.
To say Biden is clueless is perhaps being far too kind to the man who seems to have already aged since taking office. He’s gone beyond clueless. There is no doubt in my mind that he is being fed his lines by those on the radical left, including Vice President Harris.
We are led to believe that 72 percent of registered voters support transitioning from fossil fuels to 100 percent clean energy by 2050, however, even the leftist Washington Post said, “It’s doubtful Americans are willing to pay that price, especially when they learn that China, which emits more greenhouse gases than the U.S. and the European Union combined, still plans to increase its emissions in the coming years.”
PONDER THIS – How many fantasy-driven Americans really comprehend what is involved, over and above the cost of transitioning. Do they understand that it goes beyond electric cars? Do they realize that there are thousands of products they depend on that are petroleum-based?
The go-along media tells us that auto manufacturers are supportive. Why wouldn’t they be with Biden prepared to pump billions of dollars into electric vehicles and billions more in building 500,000 charging stations for them. Wait until they realize how many parts, including trim, are petroleum-based.
If getting to zero emissions will require “eliminating essentially all fossil fuels,” as David Victor at the University of California San Diego believes, how do we produce steel and cement, and fly our airplanes?
HERE’S HOW I SEE IT – Too many Americans have fallen for the myth that we can, and should, seriously address climate change, that we are near crisis. They’ve been duped by a media that continues to tell us it’s “settled science,” as they quote scientists who benefit by grants to write papers to support it.
Readers of “Unsettled,” Steven E. Koonin’s new book, might be shocked to learn that “Heat waves in the U.S. are now no more common that they were in 1900,” that “the warmest temperatures in the U.S. haven’t risen in the past 50 years,” that “Humans have had no detectable impact on hurricanes over the past century,” that “Greenland’s ice sheet isn’t shrinking any more rapidly today than it was 80 years ago,” and finally, that “The net economic impact of human-induced climate change will be minimal through at least the end of this century.”
Koonin rebukes the news media for referring to natural disasters like hurricanes and tornados as the ravages of human-caused climate change. They are not trending up, but actually significantly trending downward, he writes, including wild fires. Crop yields are rising, not falling.
Now, as our politicians consider the astronomical levels of spending for “green alternatives” under the guise of “infrastructure” funding, Koonin notes, “Never have so many spent so much public money on the basis of claims that are so unsettled,” adding that “the prospects for a reasoned debate are not good.”
BREAKING NEWS – The Biden administration has announced it intends to double by 2024 the amount of money it offers to help developing countries, compared with what the United States spent annually in the second half of the Obama administration. That would be at least $2 billion.
Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
