There’s Good News Heading Into the 2022 Midterms

REPUBLICANS DOING THE RIGHT THING – Fighting back on the left’s effort to rewrite history by supporting critical race theory and the absurd 1619 Project in our schools, South Dakota’s Gov. Kristi Noem signed a pledge to restore patriotic education in the state’s school curriculums.

“Teaching our children and grandchildren to hate their own country and pitting them against one another on the basis of race or sex is shameful and must be stopped,” she said.

In addition, 37 Republicans, led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, wrote Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, urging him to remove the 1619 Project from federal grant programs, arguing that it skews American history for divisive political ends.

WHERE THEY BETTER DO THE RIGHT THING – Rep. Liz Cheney has to go.  Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy gave her a break in February and she kept her job after a 141 to 61 vote.  Unwilling to cool her jets on Trump, she continued to disappoint most House Republicans with her open feud with the former president.

“If you’re sitting here at a retreat that’s focused on policy, focused on the future of making America next century, and you’re talking about something else, you’re not being productive, “McCarthy said.

“This idea that you just disregard President Trump is not where we are,” commented Steve Scalise, the number 2 Republican, of Cheney, “frankly, he has a lot to offer.”

GOP SENATORS had better keep their squishy colleagues in line, too.  Mitt Romney, who, like Cheney, voted to impeach Trump, was continuously booed by Republican delegates to the state convention in Utah.  Trying to deflect the catcalls as he took the stage, Romney said, “Aren’t you embarrassed?”

“Yeah, Bozo, we’re all embarrassed by you,” wrote Stephen Kruiser of PJ Media in his rhetorical response.

ANOTHER ANTI-TRUMPER, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, got his comeuppance when his candidate finished 9th in the Texas special election with just three percent of the vote.  Two Republicans, Susan Wright and Jake Ellzey, will face each other in a runoff on a date yet to be released.

LOOKING TO 2022 – The National Republican Congressional Committee is expanding their list of Democrat-controlled districts in its aim to retake the House. Republicans are on offense all across the country calling attention to the left’s toxic socialist agenda that prioritizes trillion-dollar tax hikes on the middle class, open borders, closed schools and defunding the police,” according to Sean Moran at Breitbart.

NOT INTERESTED in former President George W. Bush’s views on immigration, reports Breitbart News of Republican staffers on Capitol Hill, describing Bush as an irrelevant globalist, who does not represent the GOP’s base of voters or the majority of those in elected office.

“Bush immigration policy has no impact today other than a reference on what not to do,” one House GOP aide said.

In an interview with the Dispatch Podcast, Bush said Biden and Republicans ought to strike a deal to provide amnesty, at least to the DACA enrollees, wrote John Binder, noting Bush’s interest in getting something done where he had failed.

The Cato Institute survey reveals how out of step Bush is with Republicans and conservative voters, as well as the majority of Americans. Six-in-10 Americans want less immigration, including 75 percent of Republicans and 76 percent of conservatives.

GOOD NEWS ON THE MEDIA FRONT – With the professional sports organizations – MLB, NBA and NFL – and many of their participants, straying from their promise to entertain, now falsely commenting on election reform and other social topics, news that Outkick Media has become part of Fox Corporation.

Best known for its irreverent takes on sports news, Outkick is in sync with the opinion programing of Fox News.

In other good news, we note that digital subscriptions to the New York Times have slowed sharply in the months since President Trump left office.

NAILING THE TIMES – When the New York Times carried the headline, “Cuomo Aides Spent Months Hiding Nursing Home Death Toll,” the Daily Caller calmly tweeted @DailyCaller: “We at the Daily Caller would like to take this time to congratulate NYT for just now breaking the story we broke a year ago.”

AND FINALLY – You will recall how President Biden said his actions would be dependent on science since the campaign days.  Well, his scientists at the CDC caved on their recommendation for schools reopening when they printed, word for word, content provided by the American Federation of Teachers.

No surprise, Biden campaigned on his support of the teachers’ unions, who contributed some $40 million to Democrats.

WHY BOTHER?

There were two more faux pas with our goofy president and his wife.  While they gleefully posed without masks with former President and Rosalyn Carter, they were seen putting on their masks in the doorway as they left the Carter residence. Why?

The other incident that brought chuckles was the Biden’s kissing goodbye with masks pulled awry. Vice President Harris and the first husband kissed with masks on as she departed for Rhode Island.

Masks have to go.

Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
