No, it wasn’t his discussion with farmers over the tart cherry crop during a visit to cherry country in Michigan’s Antrim County on Saturday, it was his holiday speech that was a real downer when one of a patriotic nature would normally be expected.
I muted the speech near the beginning when he again went into his monotone delivery that was hardly celebratory, but Stephen Kruiser of PJ Media captured the moment, referring to it as “irritating.”
“He simply cannot shut up about the damn virus. Yes, he could have alluded to it briefly, but he kept going on and on about it. People wanted to celebrate, and the nation’s crabby grandfather started browbeating the audience about the variants,” (with) “the creepy lean and whisper thing …”
Kruiser advised Team Biden “don’t let this guy out of the house. Be honest with yourselves; is anyone really clamoring for a Joe Biden speech? Ever?”
At least the 1,000 people invited to the White House event were treated to pulled pork and chicken with a live band on the South Lawn for suffering through his teleprompter remarks. Let the celebration begin, the old man is finished.
The holiday weekend was filled with negative news for the Biden administration … his stalled infrastructure bill, inflation worries, continued problems on the border, his endorsement of Maxine Waters for the California senate seat, his political slap at South Dakota’s Gov. Kristi Noem over his decision to cancel fireworks over Mount Rushmore and Arizona’s Supreme Court victory over voting rights.
IS BIDEN RUNNING THE SHOW? – A poll released by the Trafalgar Group asked, “Do you believe President Biden is fully executing the duties of his office?” “No,” said a majority – 56.5 percent – “others are directing policy and agenda.”
WHILE ON THAT THOUGHT, I used to wonder how Jill Biden – excuse me, Dr. Jill Biden – could have allowed Joe to run for president. Surely, she was aware that he wasn’t up to it. Seriously.
It became a little clear once he took office. Her role, as an advisor to the president, was closer than that of Vice President Harris. There was that photo of her at the president’s desk on Air Force One on the way to the G-7 meeting. Then came the announcement that she would represent the president at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, leading the U.S. delegation.
After the cover story in Vogue magazine referred to her “looking every inch a goddess,” her already huge ego was given an expected boost by the magazine that ignored First Lady Melania Trump.
While the fluff piece included several references to her being a “very stylish person,” the author appeared to credit her with “Biden’s right-out-of-the-gate successes so extraordinary,” saying that she was “perfectly calibrated for this moment.”
Calling her “stylish” and a “joy multiplier” is one thing, but to write that “It’s hard to imagine Joe doing this without her,” is downright scary.
“There’s so much to do,” she told Vogue, “there is so. much. to. do.”
Now I understand why she didn’t discourage Joe from running. The spotlight is on her, and it’s obvious she’s loving it.
MONDAY’S MICROSOFT NEWS HEADLINE – “Jill Biden is Elegant for Independence Day in White Lace Dress and Gold Espadrille Wedges.” Well, it was a slow news day.
THE WEEKEND was made even more sour with Biden’s Friday signing of Executive Order 14012, subtly entitled, “Executive Order on Restoring Faith in Our Legal Immigration Systems and Strengthening Integration and Inclusion Efforts for New Americans.” It outlines a whole-of-government approach to breaking down barriers to U.S. citizenship and promoting naturalization to all who are eligible.
His order calls for all federal agencies to become part of an Interagency Naturalization Working Group to design a campaign that will not only target lawful permanent residents, many of whom have been in the United States for years, but “will reach out to people earlier in their immigration journeys to reach those who may one day be eligible for naturalization.”
It eliminates many of the naturalization rules the Trump administration put in place, enabling more people to apply.
Let’s hope our elected Republicans keep a close eye on this attempt to abuse our naturalization/citizenship rules.
NOT WANTING TO LEAVE YOU ON A SOUR NOTE, I wanted to pass along some news you may have missed over the holiday weekend.
So far, 127 Republican women have already indicated they plan to run for House seats in the 2022 midterms, according to Gabriel T. Rubin’s piece in the Wall Street Journal. That number was at 50 at this point in the 2020 cycle.
It’s time that we put Speaker Pelosi, and her single-digit majority, into the ash heap of history.
Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
