Investigation of Trump’s Real Estate Dealing Dying on the Vine … What Ever Happened to … and Ridding Us of the Deep State

Commentary

You may have read or heard recently that the criminal investigation of former President Trump’s business dealings in New York is expected to die when the grand jury in question ends its term in April.

Like me, you may have wondered, since when do banks take a borrower’s word for the value of real estate when they make loans secured by property?  We have all had banks or other loan institutions appraise the value of property we have sought to purchase.  They didn’t take our word for it.

Could it be that banks loaned Trump hundreds of millions of dollars based on his word for the value of the property, and did he default on any of those loans?  If so, it would have been big news.

What you may not know is that a group of big time Democrat lawyers, led by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., son of former President Jimmy Carter’s secretary of state Cyrus Vance.

Vance brought in two other big names from New York law firms.  The names aren’t important, but one agreed to do so without pay.  All blinded by their hatred of Trump.

Late last year, three career prosecutors in Vance’s office opted to leave the investigation, uncomfortable with the delays and gaps in evidence.

Then last month, the investigation began to fall apart when Vance decided not to run for reelection.  New DA, Alvin Bragg, seemingly isn’t interested in continuing the investigation.  With grand jury ending its term next month, the investigation appears to be at end after four years.

The New York Times’ long hatred of Trump was still evidenced in the paper’s reporting of the case, saying that “the investigation suffered a critical blow.”

What Ever Happened to …

How many times have you asked that during a discussion with a spouse or a friend?  The March edition of Verdict, the monthly publication of Judicial Watch, the conservative foundation that promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law, has some answers.

Remember when former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates refused to enforce President Trump’s travel ban executive order?  Thanks to an appeal by Judicial Watch, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ordered a lower court to directly review records withheld by the Justice Department.

“In an act of seditious and unethical conduct, Obama holdover Sally Yates sought to subvert then-President Trump by interfering with his lawful travel ban,” wrote Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “That the Justice Department would try to cover up the details of this lawlessness is yet another scandal.”

In a 221-page response to Judicial Watch from the Department of Health and Human Services following a Freedom of Information Act inquiry, the watchdog learned that a grant application appeared to describe “gain of function” research, frequently denied by Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In a court victory for Judicial Watch, the Delaware Supreme Court ruled that the University of Delaware must provide more information justifying its decision to keep secret its deal to house and restrict access to the U.S. Senate records of President Biden.

“Why won’t President Biden simply release his Senate records?” asked Fitton, “What is he trying to hide?

Although Judicial Watch received four pages of records from the Secret Service that reveal former President Clinton took a trip to India with Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, “this new information raises more questions about the extent and nature of the relationship between Bill Clinton, Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein,” says Fitton.

Finally, Judicial Watch has filed a lawsuit to obtain FBI records related to the memorandum issued by Attorney General Merrick Garland that targeted parents who raise objections to critical race theory being taught in schools.  The lawsuit was necessary because the “agencies are in cover-up mode over this shock abuse of power,” wrote Fitton.

As a five-year member of Judicial Watch, I have found this to be an organization that does what it was founded to do.

No Answer for Ridding Us of the Deep State

DEEP STATER EMERGING FROM THE SWAMP

When businessman Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, he often talked about draining the swamp in Washington DC.  Not a politician, little did he know that the hanger’s-on in the nation’s Capital would put up a resistance, before and after he was elected.

Anti-Trump activist groups were formed, and members recruited to resist his every move.  The worst of them surfaced in key positions in the Justice Department, including the FBI, with plans to destroy his presidency with a phony charge of Russian collusion.

Special Counsel John Durham may name some of these individuals in future indictments.

At a recent rally in South Carolina, where he teased another run in 2024, Trump suggested that he would pass critical reforms making every executive branch employee fireable by the president, saying, “The deep state musts and will be brought to heel.”

Not likely.

I find it interesting that Democrat leadership constantly accuse Republicans of destroying our institutions of democracy when it is their deep staters in the Washington swamp that are doing just that.
