So Much to Say, So Little Space to Say It

Commentary

I endeavor to keep my commentaries brief because I don’t want to lose you as a reader, but I occasionally find it necessary to expound on a topic in an effort to present the whole story objectively.

In addition, I prefer to keep each post focused on a single topic, but like today, I feel the need to give you my thoughts on several topics as concisely as I am able.

From Twitter Land

Since my December 10, 2022 post, in which I wrote about Elon Musk and his effort to restore trust in Twitter by commissioning journalists Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss to review documents to determine how free speech was being banned, additional damning facts have emerged.

Since Musk fired legal counsel, James Baker, who was attempting to shield the activities of his former colleagues in the FBI and CIA, and old Twitter management from being uncovered, we’ve learned more about the interference of our government in suppressing free speech.

In Taibbi’s “The Twitter Files Part 3,” he described the regular meetings held between Yoel Roth, Twitter’s Trust and Security chief, and FBI and Homeland Security individuals.  On one occasion, at least, he met with someone representing the Director of National Intelligence.

Roth didn’t receive general guidance, trends or specific warnings, he was given specific reports on individual tweets, further proof of government meddling.

After a series of tweets by President Trump questioning the safety and security of voting by mail, one of the Twitter executives expressed satisfaction with how quickly he was censored.  “Very well done on speed folks, what this is all designed for,” he wrote.

The so-called mainstream media is still ignoring the story.

The Dems New Talking Point

There’s a drumbeat started around the Democrat’s latest talking point of mocking the new Republican’s House plans to investigate Hunter Biden’s business activity as it relates to the access it provides to his father and the White House.

THE 51 INTEL OFFICERS WHO LIED WILL BE BROUGHT IN TO TESTIFY,

It was okay with the media when President Biden sloughed-off the border crisis as unimportant prior to his trip to Arizona, and they agree with left’s effort to press for criminal charges against President Trump and his staffers over January 6, however, the media has started to criticize the investigation plans by House Republicans, declaring that Americans are more concerned with inflation and other matters.

Seen delivering the talking point on MSNBC’s Morning Joe was has-been columnist Mike Barnicle.  And White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre simply refers the Hunter Biden story as “old news.”

My regular readers know how I feel about holding individuals accountable. I will be greatly disappointed if the House doesn’t do due diligence while trying to cut spending as keepers of the purse strings.

In his Wall Street Journal op-ed, Kentucky Rep. James Comer wrote about his plans as the new head of the House Oversight Committee in January.  In addition to the Hunter and Joe Biden corruption issue, he plans to address pandemic relief fraud, the botched Afghan withdrawal, the energy crisis, and Covid origins.

“Americans will finally get some of the answers, transparency and accountability they deserve, as well as real solutions,” he wrote, explaining the importance of stopping future abuses.

Two Arizona Views on Senator Sinema’s Party Switch

I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying the response to Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s decision to leave the Democrat Party and become an Independent.

“Sinema’s switch is a boon to Republicans,” was the headline over the column of bleeding-heart liberal Laurie Roberts in the left-leaning Arizona Republic, while the headline over her lightweight editorial columnist colleague Elvia Diaz’s editorial read “Sen. Sinema delivers a gut punch to the Democrats.”

Sinema impressed me when she took a stand on keeping the filibuster intact.  On September 28, 2021, my blog headline read, Arizona’s Senator Sinema Won’t be Pushed Around.”

In a speech defending keeping the filibuster intact, she said, “I will not support separate actions that worsen the underlying disease of division infecting our country.

“If anyone expected me to reverse my position because my party now controls the Senate, they should know that my approach to legislating in Congress is the same whether in the minority or majority.”

Although not pleased with her decision to become an Independent, Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer is treating her with kid gloves and allowing her to keep her committee assignments.

It should be interesting when she comes up for reelection in 2024.

May God continue to bless the United States of America
