Regular readers know that I prefer to comment on single topics, but my stack of stuff at the corner of my desk silently beckoned my attention with its height.
Why They Want to Get Trump
Last month, former President Trump unveiled his plan to dismantle the Washington Swamp if elected by cleaning out the deep state, firing rogue bureaucrats and career politicians, while targeting corruption and weaponization.
That was bad news for those fat cats living the good life as federal employees in Washington DC, causing them to continue their effort to keep him from getting reelected.
The current host of charges against former President Trump harken back to a previous effort to keep him from office, when former FBI agent Peter Strozk, on August 15, 2016, texted: “There’s no way he gets elected – but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before 40.”
All in the Family
Guess who’s supporting the adoption of electric cars and the nationwide build-out of charging stations? None other than Albert Gore III, son of the former vice president, the new executive director of the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA), a 501 (c)3 trade group.
“Lots of work ahead, starting with implementation of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program and new industrial policies in the Inflation Reduction Act,” said Gore.
ZERO is supporting the Biden administration’s overly ambitious transition to all-electric transportation, but recognize its success depends largely on the availability of public places to plug in and repower cars reliably, a network that currently doesn’t exist.
More Migrant Handouts
Again, unelected bureaucrats are directing more handouts for migrants. In a proposed regulation, published by the Department of Health and Human Services, would make DACA recipients eligible for programs including Medicaid under ObamaCare.
Those compassionate bureaucrats are set to change the law that previously required the migrants to become citizens or if they have lived here on a green card for five years, however, several GOP-led states have filed suit, and it could go before the Supreme Court.
Notes on January 6
On the Shooting of Ashli Babbitt – Judicial Watch reports having received 31 pages of documents from the Department of the Air Force at Joint Base Andrews revealing how U. S. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd was housed at taxpayer expense for seven months after he shot and killed U.S. Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol building on January 6.
The documents confirm what I wrote about his housing on January 10, 2023, in which I told of his housing in the “Distinguished Visitor Suite,” in quarters normally reserved for officers in rank of brigadier general or higher, at a daily rate that varied from $158 to $185.
Byrd’s housing, phone calls and sundries were all paid by the U.S. Capitol Police.
You may recall that the U.S Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia declined criminal prosecution for Byrd’s shooting of the unarmed Babbitt.
Capitol Police Officer Sentenced – Michael A. Riley, a 25-year member of the Capitol Police, was sentenced to 120 days of home detention and two years of probation and to pay a fine of $10,000 for obstructing justice. He warned a friend of the FBI investigation and told him to delete video footage he had of himself in the Capitol.
Showing remorse, the judge went below the federal sentencing guidelines. Riley is the only officer to face a criminal charge related to Jan.6, while others were merely criticized for their actions while taking selfies with rioters, for which they were disciplined.
The Face of the Capitol Riot – Jacob Chansley, 35, who had a distinguished service in the Navy, was released after receiving one of the longest sentences handed out to a rioter – 41 months in prison. He pleaded guilty to a single count of obstruction of an official proceeding.
He allowed his political emotions to get the best of him when he breached the Capitol on Jan. 6. He was released with good behavior, declaring, “I was wrong for entering the Capitol. I have no excuse. No excuse whatsoever. The behavior is indefensible.”
Chansley is better known as QAnon Shaman, who entered the Capitol bare-chested with a fur headdress and horns. You may recall seeing the footage of Capitol officers politely escorting him around the building.
Payday for Attorneys – The Justice Department has allocated $2.6 billion (yes, billion) to support prosecutions of more than 1,000 people charged in the riot, primarily for trespassing. At least they’re not chasing ambulances.
Speaker McCarthy to Wall Street
Speaker Kevin McCarthy is preparing to speak to members of the New York Stock Exchange on Monday to clue them in on the impasse over the U.S. debt limit without curbing government spending.
While the speaker emerged from a February meeting with President Biden with optimism that the pair could negotiate, the White House has been stonewalling him ever since on a subsequent meeting to do so.
Biden would have you believe he’s just waiting for the Republican’s proposal.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
