It’s been just seven years ago that Hillary Clinton suggested that half of Donald Trump’s supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables,” but she surfaced this week to recommend now that “there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.”
A Refresher
It was on September 10, 2016 and there was only 60 days left in the 2026 campaign. Speaking at a fundraiser in New York … where else? … she began by cautioning her followers not to get complacent but immediately continued with this:
“You could put half of Trump’s supporters in what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic views … you name it.”
While Hillary was not a popular candidate, it has been said that it was this outrageous statement that fueled Trump’s campaign, going into October.
A New Insult
Appearing on CNN Thursday … where else? … speaking of Trump supporters, Hillary suggested, “You know, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.” As cult members, we are no longer considered “deplorable,” but sinister.
“People like Hillary,” wrote journalist Matt Taibbi, “seem increasingly unmoored from reality, as well as willfully deaf to the political consequences of their words. The need to formally deprogram you makes the deplorables remark seem like a Valentine’s Day message.
Taibbi added that this would be funny if her mouth were not such an accurate weathervane for establishment thinking.
He’s undoubtedly referring to the rhetoric coming out of the White House by Biden himself and his minions, where Trump lives rent free in their heads.
MAGA On His Mind
While he has been regularly dropping in mentions of “MAGA extremist Republicans” in his remarks, his speech in Tempe, Arizona last week was described on NBC as perhaps the “most forceful condemnation of the former president and the MAGA movement Biden has delivered since he took office.”
“The MAGA threat is a threat to the brick and mortar of our democratic institutions,” Biden claimed. “Their extreme agenda, if carried out, would fundamentally alter the institutions of American democracy as we know it.”
Because Biden refuses to take questions, we cannot determine how the GOP agenda of restoring the sovereignty of our country by securing our border, reversing the crime trends across the nation, returning to energy independence, less spending, and lower taxes qualify as an extreme agenda.
It is President Biden who is destroying our institutions. He has enabled his Department of Justice to become weaponized against anyone or anything that threatens the left’s progressive agenda, a Homeland Security Department that has permitted millions of illegals to cross our border and disappear across the nation, encouraged his Departments of Energy and Transportation to destroy our fossil fuel industry, and wokenized the Department of Defense into a weakened state.
Former President Trump, challenged by a number of indictments, frequently tells supporters that they are the ones the left is after. The FBI has already been sent into communities to watch closely school board activities and even those of the Catholic church. They see another January 6 around every corner.

I understand Hillary’s inability to shed her loser status. Even when she, Bill and Chelsea have just captured the social justice crowd last month with the money-grubbing Clinton Global Initiative agenda session in New York, she cannot pass up chance to take a slap at “the Man” and his supporters.
