“I’M GOING TO REMEMBER THIS,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham as he accused Senate Democrats of “the most unethical sham since I’ve been in politics” during the hearings for Justice Kavanaugh.

Visibly angry over their effort to ruin Kavanaugh’s reputation, Graham said, “What you want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open, and hope you win in 2020. This has never been about the truth.  This has been about delay and destruction.”

Kramerontheright didn’t forget about it.  It was September 27, 2018, but I recall it as if it was yesterday.  “If you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn’t have done what you did to this guy,” Graham said, raising his voice.  “Boy, you guys want power.  God, I hope you never get it.  I hope the American people can see through this sham.  That you knew about it and you held it.”

Graham, knowing he would soon chair the Judiciary Committee, let the Democrats know in no certain terms that things were going to change.  “There’s the process before Kavanaugh, and the process after Kavanaugh.  If you want to vet the nominee, you can.  If you want to delay things for the next election, you will not.  If you try to destroy somebody, you will not get away with it.”  It was a remarkable moment.

The Democrats will remember Graham’s eruption too.  They know they overstepped with their partisan accusatory probing of rape that ruined Kavanaugh’s reputation.  They’ll test Graham when the hearing for the new Supreme Court Justice begins.  I can hardly wait.

The left is already beating the drum of protest.  Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has accused Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of defiling the Senate, and has threatened “nothing is off the table for next year.”  There’s talking of packing the court, statehood for the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and more.

NOT TO BE LEFT OUT, Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has threatened the initiation of another impeachment proceeding, one arrow in her “quiver.”  How pathetic.

Alexandra Ocasio Cortez said that McConnell is playing with fire.

ABOUT THE DECISION to proceed.  “In politics, there is a time to be careful and deliberative and a time to take a calculated risk that offers a high payout,” writes William Krumholz in The Federalist.  Was there ever a doubt that President Trump would play it safe? Not a chance.

Further, Krumholz suggested that the president should nominate Amy Coney Barrett, who is decidedly pro-life.  “A very small minority of Americans support the Democrat Party’s official position on abortion.”

You just know that the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee will reveal themselves as abortion extremists.  There will also be the inevitable attacks on Barrett’s Catholic religion.  They run the risk of attacking this highly successful professional woman with a family of seven children, including two she adopted from Haiti.  Attacking her will not go over well with female voters.
