ONLY IN THE BIDEN WHITE HOUSE can an “apology” become a “regret.” When questioned during an exchange with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC, President Biden said, “I shouldn’t have used ‘illegal,’ it’s ‘undocumented.’
‘So you regret using that word?” asked Capehart. “Yes,” Biden responded.
But Olivia Dalton, principal deputy press secretary, living up to her title, declared that President Biden “absolutely did not apologize” for his use of the term “an illegal.”
BUT THEY’RE “ILLEGAL” according to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who, during a speech at Georgetown Law in 2009, said, “The American people are fundamentally pro-legal immigration and anti-illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple.
“When we use phrases like ‘undocumented’ workers, we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combatting illegal immigration, which the American people overwhelmingly oppose.
He went so far as to argue that “illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.”
IT ISN’T THE FIRST TIME that Schumer contradicted the president. As a matter fact the president often contradicts his own statements.
During Schumer’s appearance at Georgetown Law, he also said, “ we must do as much as we can to gain control of our borders as soon as possible,” adding that the border is “far more secure” thanks to … 630 miles of border fence constructed along border, creating “a significant barrier to illegal immigration.”
Then Senator Biden voted for the fence in 2006, but on his first day in office as president he issued a proclamation ending its construction, declaring that there will “not be another foot” of border wall constructed. When asked if he believes the border wall works, he responded, “no.”
However, in October 2023, faced with a crisis, the Biden administration finally agreed to build additional barrier walls and waived 26 laws to build it along the Rio Grande Valley.
BACK TO SCHUMER – On December 18, 2016, Schumer published a transcript of remarks he made in New York City on his website, “Schumer Remarks Calling for Senate Select Committee to Investigate Russian Interference in 2024 Elections.”
“The fact that they’re hacking our political system and trying to influence the outcome as it seems to be: that is serious, serious stuff. We want to find out what the Russians are doing to our political system and what other foreign governments might do to our political system.”
Last week, however, Schumer gave absolutely no thought to political interference when he called on Israel to hold new elections, because he believes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “lost his way.”
ABORTION – Will it be a major issue as Election Day nears? Yes, according to Rasmussen Reports’ recent telephone survey in which 66 percent of Democrats, 28 percent of Republicans and 32 percent of unaffiliated voters say it will be “very important.”
However, 77 percent of Republicans, 58 percent of Democrats and 62 percent of unaffiliated voters view economic issues to be “very important,” and 79 percent of Republicans, 45 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of unaffiliated voters say immigration will be “very important.”
If a voter inquires about a Republican candidate’s position on abortion, he or she cannot shy away from the issue. All too often we allow the Democrats to define where they stand.
How often have we heard Democrats ridiculously say that Republicans don’t favor a closed border. Just because they couldn’t support the flawed legislation cobbled up by lawmakers that included Republicans.
I was happy to read that the campaign arm of House Republicans recently issued a memo encouraging candidates to “confidently articulate” their stance, and cautioning that “being unwilling to stake out a clear position with voters is the worst possible solution.”
North Carolina’s Republican Rep. Richard Hudson, who chairs the NRCC, recommends that members express empathy for women, discuss common sense solutions and push back on the Democrat’ extremism on the issue.
Polling in some 60 competitive districts revealed that about a third of those surveyed associated Republicans with those who want to outlaw all abortions, while a similar number see Democrats favoring abortion for any reason at any time. The survey also revealed, however, that voters generally back some restrictions on abortion, putting them more in line with Republicans.
AND ON THE LEFT, Vice President Harris, during a visit to a Planned Parenthood facility in Minnesota, told people she was there because “right now in our country we are facing a serious health crisis,” insisting that the crisis is “affecting many, many people in our country.”
Is it really a crisis? And is it really a “health” crisis? To the best of my knowledge, just 14 states have banned abortion, but women can travel to 26 states where an abortion is permitted within specific points of the pregnancy. Understandably, 22 of those states require some type of parental involvement for a minor to get an abortion.
It is legal for a woman to travel out of state to get an abortion. Biden issued an order to HHS to consider allowing Medicaid funds be used in case where women travel out of state for an abortion.
The left chooses to mock the ability to travel out of state, but heart and cancer patients often travel to specialty centers out of state for surgery. I recall a friend of mine who travelled to Cananda for a prostate procedure.
PRESIDENT BIDEN, campaigning for votes in Milwaukee, where prices are up an average of 7.5 percent on things like groceries and gasoline, didn’t help himself with those who consider him unfit to be reelected when he said, “We have the lowest inflation rate of any country in America.”
FINALLY – If Fani fancies herself as a protector of justice, she will recuse herself from the prosecution of former President Trump and the others facing changes in the 2020 elections case in Georgia.
