Commentary
In my last blog edition, I touched on the subject of lies in politics, in which I included President Biden’s big lie about climate change, with his claim that his spending bill, the largest expenditure ever made by the federal government to slow global warming, provides $555 billion for programs that could significantly curb fossil fuel emissions.
As he spoke of his “leadership” in the world and his vision for America’s future, while passing the torch to a new generation in his last Oval Office address, he mused on what he would be doing over his last months in office, including “I’m going to keep our planet from the climate crisis. It is the existential threat.” Unbelievable.
While her boss was contemplating his political future, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was in Brazil attending a meeting of G20 finance leaders stating that the global transition to a low-carbon economy requires $3 trillion in new capital each year through 2050.
Where does Vice President Harris stand on climate change? Suffice it to say that when she ran for president in 2020, her climate plan called for a $10 trillion increase in spending over a decade, and she was an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal. She isn’t about to abandon the Biden-Harris administration agenda.
Oops … Concerned over the importance of energy in the key battleground states, Harris in a major flip flop, now says she no longer endorses a ban on fracking, after running for president in 2020 saying there is “no question” she would end fracking if elected.
Back to the Big Lie
As we look back on how the left lied about Biden’s mental condition, the Washington Examiner didn’t have to look far when it rhetorically asked, “What else are the Democrat’s lying about?”
“Hyping the harms of climate change has been a scare tactic of the Democrat Party for decades, helping make Generation Z the most depressed and least optimistic generation ever. Almost everything Democrats say about climate change is a lie.”
Climate change is real. The world’s average temperature is rising, but not as fast as Democrats claim, and not causing the damage Democrats say it is.
Biden’s lies about deaths from heat and extreme weather events are lies, too. As I have written before, extreme cold kills twice the number of people.
Biden also lies about the increase in extreme weather events, falsely tying them to climate change. Hurricane numbers and intensity have not increased since 1900. Similarly, floods and tornadoes have not increased in the past seven decades.
Lying and One’s Character
Earlier, I alluded to the strange content of Biden’s Oval Office address that sounded more like a State of the Union address than a brief statement announcing his decision not to seek the presidency in November. Like this:
“Do we still believe in honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy?’ and “Does character in public life still matter? he asked before saying “I promised to always level with you, to tell you the truth.”
I understand why he chooses not to level with us about who persuaded him to drop out of the race, just as Senator Schumer chose not to reveal that it was he who did so. I would not consider those lies.
Biden’s family, staff and cabinet members and the leftist media, however, all participated in the big lie concerning his fitness for office that delayed the inevitable. With all the talk of democracy, the Democrat Party will soon officially name Kamala Harris as its nominee, having received no primary votes.
There’s more to character
Again, as Biden preaches “character,” he accuses Trump of being a threat to democracy and his supporters as extremists, using MAGA as an obscene four-letter word. And it has been noted that Harris has sharpened her vocabulary, too, and expect her to lie about her record.
It’s Early Folks
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
