I trust you weren’t surprised to read that former President Obama’s spokesman responded to President Trump’s accusation that the former president had phones in his Trump Tower offices tapped with a denial.
“Neither President Obama, nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” wrote Kevin Lewis. Let’s not forget that it was revealed in 2013 that millions of Americans were “accidentally” surveilled by the NSA.
Just as was the case during the Fast & Furious gun running, the surveillance of the Associated Press and Fox’s James Rosen, the tapping of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile phone, the IRS targeting of conservative groups, the Benghazi terrorist attack, and Hillary Clinton e-mails, proof of Obama’s complicity did not exist. You will recall that Obama often stated that he learned of issues from the media as most of us did. That’s BS.
Obama was surrounded by sycophants like Ben Rhodes, Valerie Jarrett, and others, who could casually mention in conversation with someone, without giving a direct order or request, that “The president would really like to know …” And, it gets done. Heaven forbid if that appeared in writing, providing a smoking gun.
“The previous Attorney General Loretta Lynch, could have ordered the surveillance at Obama’s explicit direction, or, more likely, with his tacit approval,” wrote P. H. Guthrie in The Federalist.
Question. Did the FBI and the DOJ work the FISA process to surveil the Trump presidential campaign to assist the Clinton Campaign?
Democrats Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) have their hair on fire over their theory that President Trump and/or his advisors were in collusion with Russians during the campaign.
Pressed on this by NBC’s Chuck Todd, an anti-Trumper, former DNI James Clapper told him, “we had no evidence of such collusion.” Todd didn’t like hearing that.
I remind you that there is also no evidence that the election was hacked in the sense that the actual voting process was compromised.
For those who consider President Trump’s Twitter charge accusing Obama of wire-tapping his Trump Tower phones crazy, Andrew McCarthy writes in National Review, “How much crazier is it for Trump to contend that Obama ordered spying on Trump than for the media and Democrats to have contended, for month upon month, that the Trump campaign conspired with the Putin regime to steal the American presidential election and turn the Oval Office into occupied Kremlin territory?”
Meanwhile, Senate and House intelligence committees are about to investigate the charge and the Russian-Trump campaign issue. I see it as a waste of time. First, there will be no evidence that President Obama ordered the wire-tapping, and secondly, since there was no collusion with Russia, and Russia did not successfully hack our election, what difference does it make, to quote the first woman candidate for president.
Even the mighty New York Times has a dilemma. “It’s difficult to evaluate Mr. Trump’s claim without public evidence, just as it’s difficult to evaluate the claims of Mr. Trump’s adversaries that his campaign colluded with the Russian government in the absence of public evidence,” admitted the Time’s Public Editor Liz Spayd, whose responsibility it is to be the readers’ check on what the paper publishes.
“Several readers have written in this week saying they’re having a hard time squaring The Time’s own past reports of wiretapping with the paper’s assertions that there is no firm evidence than any warrants have been issued,” wrote Ms. Spayd.
