Here are my observations and opinions of my selected news of the day.
OH, HOW THE DEMOCRATS TURN – You’ve seen how Democrats have turned Republican foes into heroes, quoting Ronald Reagan and John McCain as if they were one of their own.
It’s happening again with the pending departure of Dan Coats as director of national intelligence. Republican Coats was frequently in opposition to Democrats – on LGBT individuals serving openly in the armed forces, same-sex marriage, supporting the invasion of Iraq, and the Iran nuclear deal.
However, he was one of them, an establishment figure with three decades of House and Senate service, and more importantly, Coats has been seen in opposition to Trump’s foreign policy. And, DNI nominee Rep. John Ratcliffe is seen as too partisan. Too bad.
Interestingly, however, the Democrat talking points are void of Coats kudos as they attack the Ratcliffe nomination. Except for Rep. Adam Schiff, the conspiracy leader of the House Intelligence Committee, who complimented Coats for his independence and strength to speak truth to power.”
Joe Scarborough the leftist co-host of “Morning Joe,” referred to Ratcliffe as a “fascist clown,” while criticizing his questioning of Robert Mueller.
Meanwhile, Debra Heine, of PJ Media aptly describes Coats as a “hapless fossil.”
THE TRUTH FROM BOOKER T. WASHINGTON – Yesterday, I quoted Jim Treacher, who said black activist Al Sharpton “swooped in to save Baltimore from Trump.”
Later that day, I listened as Deroy Murdock, editor of National Review Online, derided Sharpton while drawing an analogy with individuals in this quote by Booker T. Washington:
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
With Washington’s reference to “another class of coloured people,” it isn’t difficult to view Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and members of the Congressional Black Caucus, as those who continue to portray blacks as victims. Washington would have had them pegged for what they are.
SPEAKING OF RACISM – Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL), Chairwoman of the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee, rushed back from recess to Washington for a meeting Monday to face an upheaval within the DCCC office.
Amid complaints that the DCCC staff is too white, Black and Hispanic Caucus members revolted over the lack of diversity in the DCCC’s major campaign arm, and charged that Allison Jaslow, DCCC executive director, is not doing enough to reach Latino voters and hire consultants of color.
Within minutes of the start of the meeting, Jaslow, a close ally of Bustos, resigned, and in the next 10 hours, Politico reported, much of the senior staff was out.
“The Democrats are the true racists,” writes Roger L. Simon in PJ Media. “The more they and their press lackeys call others racist, the more they are, and the more racism they generate.
“These days one might as well call the Democrat Party the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Racism. They do this every day through the promulgation of identity politics.”
AMID THE RACIAL INSULTS, President Trump recently signed The First Step Act, the result of a bipartisan criminal reform agenda that addressed minority incarceration. Over 3,000 prisoners were released last Friday. It was a success by the Trump administration previous administrations failed to accomplish.
Earlier this year, Trump freed Alice Johnson, an elderly black woman serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug offense.
And Tuesday, the president announced that black unemployment had reached its lowest point in history.
NOW CAPITALISM IS RACIST, TOO – California’s Education Department has called for comments on an Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. If approved, it will be a mandated guide for teachers who want to instruct students in the field of “ethnic studies.”
The curriculum is filled with “fashionable academic jargon” that will make sense to radical university professors and activists, notes Williamson M. Evers, of Stanford’s Hoover Institution in his Wall Street Journal op-ed. It was written by teachers, academics and bureaucrats.
Capitalism is described as a “form of power and oppression,” alongside “patriarchy,” “racism,” “white supremacy,” and “ableism.” Capitalism and capitalists appear as villains several times in the document.
As one can imagine, the course will explore the African-American experience “from the precolonial ancestral roots in Africa to the trans-Atlantic slave trade and enslaved people’s uprisings in the antebellum South, to the elements of Hip Hop and African culture retentions.”
There’s more. Student will be encouraged to become “agents of change, social justice organizers and advocates.” Teachers will direct students to have a plan – “a direct action” – a sit-in, a die-in, march, boycott or strike.
“It’s training students to become ideological activists and proponents of identity politics,” says Evers.
That’s in California, but it should be warning to every state in the Union that the left wants to further propagandize our youth.
PERHAPS YOU HAVEN’T HEARD that Nancy Pelosi and her cadre of a dozen or more Black Caucus members are spending some of their early August recess days in Italy and Africa … at taxpayer expense, of course. It’s the usual suspect – James Clyburn, John Lewis, Sheila Jackson Lee, and, yes, Ilhan Omar.
Those poor illegal children “in cages,” sitting in their own feces on our Southern Border can just wait.
The delegation is going to hold “high level discussions” with the president of Ghana, and will go the “Door of No Return,” to observe the 400th Anniversary of the first enslaved Africans landing in America.
To make it all official with broader appeal to taxpayers, the delegation will visit the U.S. Army Africa headquarters to “thank our men and women in uniform and receive briefings from military leaders.”
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
