Klobuchar sinks … plight of Baltimore, inner cities in Inaugural Address … Michigan’s Stabenow wants impeachment to proceed … two-faced Kelly … Maddow’s viewership declines … U of Michigan pushes liberal views to high schoolers … Biden no foreign policy giant … and laugh-of-the-day

Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

AMY KLOBUCHAR, the Democrat presidential candidate from Minnesota, who apparently sees her chance of winning the nomination slip away, seemingly believes that attacking and misquoting President Trump will improve her chances. So much for “Minnesota Nice.”

She accused the president of calling Baltimore “nothing but a home for rats.”

“While the president did call parts of the city “rodent infested,” writes Tyler O’Neil in PJ Media, “a rodent infestation is not the same as a city is “nothing but a home for rats.”

Of course, Klobuchar had to insert “the children” in her statement. It’s what Democrats always do, because they incorrectly believe they have the corner on what’s best for America’s children.

“Little kids literally woke up this weekend, turned on the TV, and say their president calling their city, the town of Baltimore, nothing more than a home for rats,” Klobuchar said.

“Klobuchar is off the mark, but she is par for the course when it comes to Democrat responses to Trump’s tweets,” says O’Neil.

Face it, folks … unable to gain even luke warm acceptance for her ideas, she’s desperate.

REMEMBER WHEN Democrats and the media were highly critical of President Trump’s “dark” Inaugural Address and of his choice of the words “American carnage” while describing an America he aimed to change? “A uniquely dark vision of the United States,” read the headline on the front page of the New York Times.

After stating that Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves, he said, “These are just and reasonable demands of a righteous public.”

Think about Baltimore as you read the next lines of his address:

“But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much realized potential.”

He then flipped the switch, from reality (or “dark” if you wish) to his uplifting view of the future:

“From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this moment on, it’s going to be America First,” as he told us what was ahead.

Billions of dollars in community grants have been provided to Baltimore, and the president has the duty to ask where and how those funds were used without being accused of being a racist.

HAVE YOU SEEN the 1999 news clip of Rep. Elijah Cummings declaring that Baltimore was drug-infested? They won’t show it on the mainstream media.

DEBBIE STABINOW (jacquelynmartin/ap)

POOR DEBBIE STABENOW, the Democrat senator from Michigan, continues to press for the impeachment of President Trump. Michigan voters had an opportunity to dump her in favor of John James, but supported this woman who cannot see the handwriting on the wall.

Surely, she must realize that even if the Democrat-controlled House voted to impeach Trump, the Republican-controlled Senate would more than likely acquit him. What a waste of time and money!

Her fellow Michigan Democrat in the Senate, Gary Peters, who is up for reelection in this critical battleground state has not backed Trump’s impeachment, but I expect he will face John James in 2020.

A number of Michigan Democrat members of the House – Kildee, Lawrence, Levin and, of course, Tlaib – continue to be an embarrassment. Justin Amash, who recently bolted from the GOP to become an independent, has joined them.

TWO-FACED KELLY – Perhaps you’ve heard about Mark Kelly, the former astronaut and husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords, now gun-control advocate.

In February, Kelly, a Democrat, announced that he would challenge Sen. Martha McSally for the seat to which she was named upon the passing of John McCain.

Kelly said that he would not take donations from large corporation PACs, because “they are corrupting our democracy to the benefit of their own bottom lines,” said is spokesman Jacob Peters.

What you need to know is that Kelly has made over $1.8 million in speaking engagements over the past 18 months, according to Nic Rowan of the Washington Free Beacon. He has made some 60 speeches for large corporations, including insurance companies; universities, utilities, an auto manufacturer, and even a yogurt producer. The campaign claims that Kelly agreed to deliver the speeches committed to before he declared his candidacy. He has also accepted individual donations from CEOs and other corporate executives.

While the website for Speakerhub suggests you request Kelly’s fee, Rowan reports that while his average fee is $29,000, his most lucrative speeches – for Subaru and Chobani – earned him $58,250.

If you want to help Senator McSally keep her seat in 2020, Kramerontheright suggests that you contribute what you can to McSally for Senate, Inc., P.O. Box 97019, Washington DC 20090.

RACHEL MADDOW (MSNBCscreenshot)

I DON’T WATCH RACHEL MADDOW on MSNBC, but I enjoy watching the outtakes from her show played on Fox News Channel from time to time. She goes from Collusion! to tears faster than you can hit the remote. I just learned that her show fell to fifth in total viewers behind four Fox cable news programs in July.

In the crucial 25-54 age demographic, Maddow averaged just 384,000 viewers, behind Hannity and Carlson, who finished firsts and second with 527,00 and 519,000 viewers respectively.

Fox finished first in total day ratings in July, averaging 1,378,000 total viewers, while CNN and MSNBC saw their viewers decline to 557,000 and 852,000, respectively.

I’VE WARNED YOU, as recent as my July 31, 2019 posting of the movement by liberals to brainwash your students in high schools and our colleges and universities. It isn’t new. For years we have seen the data reflecting the liberal bent of faculties.

Wednesday, I learned that the University of Michigan is opening a “social justice-themed” high school in partnership with the Detroit Public Schools Community District in the fall.

The “social justice-themed” School at Marygrove “has been designed to develop critical thinkers and community-minded citizens who have the skills and knowledge to be makers and leaders creating a more just and equitable future,” said spokeswoman Chrystal Wilson.

“The University is attempting to sway high schoolers toward one political ideology through social justice,” warned Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars. ‘It wants to establish the doctrine of “social justice” in the minds of ninth grade students in Detroit. It is deeply disturbing that the “social justice” ideology is spreading beyond the universities to the public schools.”

A MISGUIDED DEMOCRAT recently wrote a letter to the editor of the Arizona Republic, citing the foreign policy credentials of Apology Joe Biden, but she obviously hasn’t read about the quote from former Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ memoir, “Duty,” that has been repeatedly mentioned since 2014:

BIDEN AND HARRIS (flipboard.com)

“Biden,” he said, is a nice guy – “simply impossible not to like” – but “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”

If you are interested in reading a review of Biden’s foreign policy record, CLICK HERE for Steve Contorno’s piece for Politifact.

LAUGH-OF-THE-DAY comes from Apology Joe, who apparently didn’t know the microphone was live when he greeted Kamala Harris to the debate stage Tuesday night as he said: “Go easy on me kid.”

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
