No conscience with Dems … soliciting foreign interference by Obama, Biden … words missing from articles of impeachment … Jackson Lee an embarassment … Comey not vindicated … a point to ponder … good news from Michelle, Hillary … recalling Glenn Miller … Pelosi the pathetic … no pent-up demand for electric cars … and my laugh-of-the-day

Here are my observations and opinions from my selected news of the day.

FIRST – Democrats have no conscience.  How can they proceed with articles of impeachment when members of their Deep State have been caught with their proverbial pants down by DOJ IG Michael Horowitz illegally attempting to undermine the Trump presidency?

DID YOU NOTICE that the first article of impeachment says that President Trump “solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, in the 2020 United States presidential election?”

OBAMA AND MEDVEDEV (cnsnews.com)

How soon the Democrats conveniently forget how President Obama solicited the interference of a foreign government – Russia – in the 2012 United States presidential election.

Democrats like to spin that President Trump was “caught” withholding military aid from Ukraine.  Well, President Obama was “caught” in what he thought was a private conversation with then Russian president Dmitry Medvedev over a hot mic in Seoul, Korea talking about missile defense while referring to his 2012 reelection bid.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him (Putin) to give me space.”

PRESIDENT MEDVEDEV: “Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space.  Space for you …”

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “This is my last election.  After my election I have more flexibility.”

PRESIDENT MEDVEDEV: “I understand.  I will transmit this information to Vladimir (Putin), and I stand with you.”

AND THEN THERE’S BIDEN soliciting interference of a foreign government – Ukraine.

JOE BIDEN (youtube, cfr)

THEN VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN, braggingly stating, “I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours.  I looked at them and said, “I’m leaving here in six hours.  If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.  Well, son of a bitch, he got fired.”

MISSING in the first article of impeachment, reports Thomas Jipping of the Heritage Foundation in The Federalist, is any mention of “quid pro quo,” “bribery,” “extortion,” or “shake-down,” the words bandied about by Democrats over the last few months.

“They settled on accusing Trump of ‘abusing his high office to enlist a foreign power in corrupting democratic elections,’” writes Jipping.

I had to laugh about the frequent references to Trump’s concern about stopping 2020 Democrat candidate Biden.  Trump, I believe, doesn’t see Biden as a serious candidate.  Trump was seeking information on Biden’s involvement in the 2016 election.

An example of this comes from Dan Goldman, the Intelligence Committee’s investigations director, who said that Trump sought to “coerce a foreign country to help him cheat to in an election,” as if Trump needs to do that. That’s laughable.

Kramerontheright repeats its earlier demand that our president – Trump or any future president – have strings attached to any aid, military or otherwise.  He has a duty to taxpayers to get something – even if it’s a vote in the UN – in return.  The president’s chief of staff Mick Mulvaney stated on October 17, 2019 that “it happens all the time.” Democrats are making it an impeachable offense.

REP. SHIELA JACKSON LEE (D-TX) was among those Democrats spouting ridiculous statements during the House markup of the articles of impeachment. In addition to saying that President Trump doesn’t set foreign policy – he does – she would have you believe that the pause in providing military aid to Ukraine cause more loss of lives, as if they were plumb out of weapons – they weren’t.  Republicans called her on both counts.

THE POMPUS former disgraced FBI Director James Comey simply doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut.  After Comey claimed that IG Michael Horowitz’s report vindicated him, Horowitz politely responded that “I think the activities we found here don’t vindicate anybody who touched this.”

DID YOU HEAR that CNN and MSNBC cut away from their coverage of the Justice Department IG Michael Horowitz’s testimony about Obama’s DOJ and FBI abuses of the FISA process to spy on the Trump campaign, just as Sen. Lindsay Graham delivered his opening statement.

A POINT TO PONDER – Just stop and think about it.  Do you think for one second that we would know what we know now about the corrupt individuals in our DOJ and FBI if Hillary Clinton had been elected president in 2016?  Absolutely not.

GOOD NEWS – Appearing on NBC’s Today Show, Michelle Obama told the audience that she and Barack planned to stay involved in politics “forever.” They will join Hillary Clinton as reminders of their pathetic performances – failures – while in positions of responsibility.

GLENN MILLER (hollywoodincolor.com)

DECEMBER 15, 1944 isn’t a date most of you will recognize as one of significance, but as a long-time member of the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society,  I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you that it was on that date that we learned that Major Glenn Miller, of big band fame, was reported missing during the flight of a UC-64A Norseman from England to Paris.

While a member of the Army Air Corps during the war, he was able to bring together members of his band to entertain the troops with his highly popular arrangments, giving them reminders of home.

HOW AUDACIOUS – Nancy Pelosi would have you believe that the reason Democrats delayed approval of the USMCA was the need to make changes and make it “better.”  “Do the people not see through this?” a friend e-mailed me. Yes. They do.

“ELECTRIC CARS ARE HERE.  BUYERS AREN’T” – That headline from a recent edition of the Wall Street Journal is quite prophetic. Regular readers will recall that I have been highly critical of automakers for caving to the government on café standards and the push for electric cars.

General Motors and LG Chem have announced that they will split ownership of a battery production joint venture, according to Business Insider.  The companies will invest up to $2.3 billion in the joint venture to build a battery factory in Lordstown, Ohio.

GM also revealed plans to release 20 electric vehicle models by 2033.  The company fell far short of its earlier prediction to have 500,000 electric cars on the road by 2017, despite being able to offer $7,500 tax incentives, according to John D. Stoll of the Journal.

“Electric vehicles cost more than their gasoline counterparts, are cumbersome to charge, and sell fewer in the U.S. than the Toyota Camry,” says Stoll. “For every eight pickups sold in America there is one pure-plug-in vehicle sold.”

“(Yet) auto executives say they really, really mean it this time,” reports Stoll despite there being no pent-up demand.

MY LAUGH-OF-THE-DAY – Marianne Williamson, who sought the Democrat nomination for President, embarrassed herself when she tweeted @marwilliamson: “There is something deeply sinister about Trump’s pardoning of Charles Manson, even posthumously. Dog whistles of the very worst possible kind.”   Of course, that never happened.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
