THE HEADLINE, BIDEN AND HARRIS ARE ANTI-WOMAN on the piece by Jodi Giddings in the blog Victory Girls is a bit strong, but she makes excellent points about the Democrat Party that do not get mentioned in the leftist media.
She reminds us that most Democrats were opposed to the 19th Amendment – the right of women to vote – including President Woodrow Wilson. It was a California Republican, A.A. Sargent, who introduced the amendment in 1878, only to see it voted down by a Democrat-controlled Congress.
Four decades later, when Republicans won landslide victories in the House and Senate, another Republican, James R. Mann, introduced the 19th Amendment in the House and it passed, 200-14. It later passed in the Senate, clearing the way for ratification by the states, where 26 of the 36 states that ratified it had Republican legislatures. Of the nine states voting against ratification, eight were Democrat.
While she reminds her readers that it was the Democrat Party that stood in opposition to civil rights legislation for years, I couldn’t help but think about the Democrat states that are now standing in the way of reopening our economy and schools, and those Democrat-controlled cities that are allowing rioting with violence and looting to go unchecked.
DEMOCRAT AND INDEPENDENT WOMEN should also be aware of other issues of importance to them that the Democrat Party opposes. Leading the list is school choice and pro-choice. Often forgotten is how the party discourages fathers in the home with its generations of promoting government dependency.
It was President Trump who eliminated anti-business regulations and lowered taxes that enabled women to become more financially independent in businesses of their own.
And it is President Trump who supports law enforcement, while the Democrat Party is seen as advocates for defunding police forces. The release of violent offenders is a recipe for disaster with women.
Women who are quick to criticize President Trump’s references to some women, like ‘crazy’ Nancy Pelosi and “nasty” Kamala Harris, should reflect on the four years of the left’s name-calling of Sarah Sanders, Candace Owens, Betsy DeVos, Ivanka Trump, Kellyanne Conway and Kayleigh McEnaney, to name a few.
JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, on the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, President Trump granted a full and complete pardon for Susan B. Anthony, who fought for a woman’s right to vote over a five-year period.
Two weeks after she cast a vote in the 1872 presidential election in her hometown of Rochester, New York, she was arrested and later convicted of voting illegally, with a sentence to pay a fine of $100 and court costs, but never paid.
I thought it was instructive that no president of the “big tent” Democrat Party thought to pardon her.
TRUTH FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES – Yes, you read that right. “You know, I think what’s funny is that actually, (Joe) Biden’s platform is far more liberal than Barack Obama’s was years ago,” said Mara Gay, a member of the Times’s editorial board during an appearance on MSNBC’s Dateline: White House.
She told host Nicolle Wallace how the Times board was “kind of blown away at how much more similar it is to Bernie Sanders’ platform in some ways than Barack Obama’s in 2008.”
BIDEN-HARRIS AND WALL STREET SUPPORT – More than $8.8 million in financial sector funds have gone directly to Biden’s campaign against Trump. The Biden Victory Fund has received roughly $14 million from the industry, as has the DNC. Biden-aligned super PACs, Priorities USA and Unite the Country, have taken in $27.9 million from financial firms.
Biden has benefited from more than $150 million in political contributions from Wall Street since his failed 1988 presidential bid, according to the Washington Beacon.
Since Harris’ first Senate run in 2016, she has received nearly $4 million from Wall Street.
When you hear about Harris being close to the people, you should know that she has three homes – in Brentwood and San Francisco, California and Washington D.C. – with an estimated total value of $8 million.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE DOCTOR to see that Joe Biden’s mental capacity has changed since he left office in 2016. I was delighted to hear Brit Hume inform Democrat mouthpiece Marie Harf that using the term “senile” doesn’t require a medical degree. An agitated Harf cautioned commentators not to use terminology normally reserved by qualified psychiatrists. It is simply a characteristic of, or caused by old age.
LAUGH-OF-THE-DAY – In the past few days I heard someone say, “Joe Biden is past the ‘sell date.’” I apologize for not providing attribution of that quote. I heard it in the past few days, but cannot recall who said it.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
