Another question for Hillary

In my May 25, 2015 post, “Questions I would ask Hillary,” I mused about the opportunity to ask Hillary Clinton about her role as secretary of state.  My first question concerned her failure to recognize the series of warnings facing the Benghazi consulate over a five-month period leading up to the attack.

If looks could kill. This is the look I could imagine if I had the opportunity to ask her any questions. (Getty Images)

Continuing with the focus on Benghazi, Madam Secretary … and again, please excuse my lengthy lead-in to my question.

As evidenced by documents recently released, prior to the attack, you and your staff were busy behind the scenes developing a scenario that would make success in Libya a notable accomplishment of your tenure at State.

Just one month prior to the attack, Jake Sullivan, your deputy chief of staff, wrote of your leadership on Libya, citing your “ownership/stewardship of this country’s Libya policy from start to finish.”  You were being touted as “the public face of the U.S. in Libya.” Continue reading

Questions I would ask Hillary

When you think of all of the unanswered questions about Hillary Clinton’s past, it’s mind-boggling to muse what you would ask her if you had the opportunity, as improbable as one could imagine such an occasion.

Forget the unanswered questions of her years as first lady, including the missing Rose law firm papers, the travel office firings, the cattle futures, and the mysterious death of Vince Foster.  And don’t bother inquiring about her decision to stand by her man with all of his dalliances, because that’s clear now.

This is how I imagine Hillary Clinton when being questioned. (allenwestrepublic.com)

You might be interested in getting answers to these questions, but they’re meaningless to younger voters who were just infants when the Clinton’s soiled the White House.  And forget die hard Democrats.  They don’t care.

I believe Independents and women (including some Republicans), who want to see a woman become president, are still persuadable. Continue reading

Obama warns Coast Guard grads that ignoring climate change would be considered dereliction of duty

Can you believe it?  ISIS now holds nearly half the territory of Syria and has a major hold on Fallujah and Ramadi, two Iraqi cities our warriors fought and died for, and what do we hear from our president?  It’s merely a setback.

And what does he tell graduates at the recent commencement ceremonies of the United States Coast Guard Academy? … read more

Something to think about

No doubt you have heard the discussion taking place in the media about the contest to draw a cartoon likeness of the prophet Mohammed sponsored in Garland, Texas.  Two terrorists (calling them what they are) attempting to disrupt the gathering with AK-47s, were shot and killed by police.

While most people believe that drawing the Prophet is covered by the First Amendment, there are those, including Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, who agree, but say we shouldn’t taunt Muslims by defaming the Prophet.… read more

A crash course analogy

After hearing one more statement or action taken by President Obama, do you feel helpless, unable to do anything about it?  Your Congressman never responds and letters to the editor only allow you to get it off your chest.  Helpless and hopeless, you feel locked out.

Hopeless (kitchentablenewsforkidsa.wordpress.com)

We’re at the intersection of Discouraged and Hopeless and all we can do is hang in there until 2016. (kitchentablenewsforkids.wordpress.com)

A friend recently sent me a copy of an analogy to this currently circulating on the Internet.

The writer* relates the harrowing 8-minute plunge of German Wings Flight 9525 in the French Alps, in which 150 innocent people met an immediate, unthinkable death.

The co-pilot Andreas Lubitz couldn’t be stopped because he had locked the pilot out of the cockpit. “It’s hard to imagine the growing feelings of fear and helplessness that the passengers felt as the unforgiving landscape rushed to meet them,“ the writer stated.

He wrote of the feeling in the pits of the stomach and hearing the shake and rattle of structures stressed beyond their limits.  And it was only near the end of the 8-minute plunge that everyone finally understood what was really happening and began to scream. Continue reading

Obama hell bent to strike bad deal with Iran

I have been writing about President Obama’s abandonment of the goal to stop Iran’s development of nuclear weapons in favor of a cockamamie negotiation to further delay that effort.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is coming to speak to a joint session of Congress this week to tell us about the threat the world faces in Iran, and the president doesn’t like it.

He has turned the dogs loose in a bitter personal attack against Netanyahu and Israel, one of our strongest allies.

Kerrey (nypost.com)

Secretary of State Kerry was sent out to denigrate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a House hearing. (nypost.com)

Secretary of State John Kerry told the House Foreign Affairs Committee, shamefully said, “The prime minister, as you will recall, was profoundly forward-leaning and outspoken about the importance of invading Iraq under George W. Bush, and we all know what happened with that decision.”  This, despite the fact that Netanyahu wasn’t prime minister at the time,

I didn’t hear anyone challenge Kerry on that statement, so I will. Nearly everyone, including Kerry, and Hillary Clinton, voted to attack Iraq on Oct. 11, 2002.

We captured Saddam Hussein, of whom Kerry said in 2003, “If you don’t believe … Saddam Hussein is a threat with nuclear weapons, then you shouldn’t vote for me.” Continue reading

It’s time to take a stand on Homeland Security bill

Republicans don’t have the votes to pass its Homeland Security Bill, which calls for full funding of the agency with the exception of funding for the president’s amnesty immigration bill, putting the party in a dilemma as funding for the agency runs out on Feb. 27.

A friend wrote to me last week concerned about the Homeland Security Bill and the dubious position ahead for Republicans, including a copy of a thoughtful letter he wrote to Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake in which he asks that they consider the advice offered in Karl Rove’s Feb. 18 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.

Essentially, Rove allows that the  preliminary injunction by federal district Judge Andrew Hansen stopping the implementation of the president’s immigration executive order, gives the GOP an opportunity to extract itself.  It would give Republicans a chance to make their point  on an issue where they  agree the president overstepped his authority, while avoiding getting blamed for a shutdown.

Meanwhile, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer writes, “Republicans find themselves on the sidelines bleating plaintively about violations of the separation of powers.  But there is a way out for the GOP.  Go bold.  Go nuclear.  Abolish the filibuster.  Pass the bill and send it to the president.” Continue reading

Obama administration promotes another amateur

On a number of occasions I have noted how the two State Department spokespersons, Jen Psaki and her assistant Marie Harf, are ill-suited to perform their roles.

As recent as Feb. 11, I wrote in my post, “Surprise! There were Jews in the Jewish kosher deli, that Jen Psaki said we couldn’t assume that those targeted and killed in the deli were Jewish.

Now we learn that Psaki has been promoted and will move from State to the White House, where she will serve as Communications Director.

Do you suppose the president remembered what she said about him last year? Continue reading

Surprise! There were Jews in the Jewish kosher deli

“It is entirely legitimate for the American people to be deeply concerned when you’ve got a bunch of violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris.” – President Obama

Obama (realclearpolitics.com)

President Obama referred to the Paris shooters as a bunch of violent, vicious zealots in his interview with VOX.com (realclearpolitics.com)

Those are the words of the president from a January interview with VOX.com’s Matt Yglesias made public this week, as he indicated the media overstates the terrorist threat and said his job fighting terrorism was akin to a big city mayor fighting crime.

“A bunch of violent, vicious zealots” is his latest description to avoid referring to Islamic radicals.  How are we ever going to defeat the scourge of this barbaric group if our leader stubbornly refuses to properly identify our enemy?

And, surely he doesn’t believe those “zealots,” who openly detest Jews, “randomly” selected a Jewish kosher deli to “randomly” murder its customers, who most certainly would be (and were) Jewish.

Of course, supporters of the president attributed his inappropriate word choice to a lack of a teleprompter.  What does that say about his ability to think on his feet? Continue reading
