And the Nominee Is …

With the lingering doubt about President Biden’s memory and fitness for office and former President Trump facing a number of legal challenges, Monmouth University polled 902 voting adults to see where they stand as nominees.

Forty-eight percent think it is very or somewhat likely Biden will be replaced as the Democrat nominee, while 32 percent think it is very or somewhat likely that Trump will be replaced.… read more

Follow-Ups to My Previous Commentaries

Commentary

Regular readers may recall my November 2, 2023 commentary on news follow- ups.  We often read a story and later wonder what happened, what was the outcome.  Here are a few follow ups that may interest you.

A FOLLOW-UP – From time to time I quote from the Letters to the Editor column in the Wall Street Journal when their readers comment on a subject I wrote about here. … read more

Happenings off the Campaign Trail

Commentary

I’M SICK AND TIRED of hearing about everything President Biden has accomplished despite his mental state. In a recent op-ed written by novelist Joeseph Epstein, he declares “How could someone with an enfeebled memory have accomplished all the historically significant improvements his administration has made?

Tell me, Mr. Epstein, what are those historically significant improvements? … read more

Before I cover the latest news along the campaign trails, I would be remiss if I didn’t wish my subscribers on the distaff side a Happy Valentine’s Day.  Your regular reading of my blog is appreciated.

FIRST, A LITTLE HUMOR – Fox’s Greg Gutfeld, now the king of late night, calling attention to the national poll revealing 86 percent of Americans think Biden is too old to serve another term in his monologue: “Think about it … 86 percent of Americans agree … Joe Biden’s promise to unify us finally came true … he brought us together.”read more

Biden

President Biden’s criticism of Israel’s approach to the war against Hamas, calling military operations in Gaza “over the top,” and saying that the suffering of innocent people has “got to stop,” came after he returned to the lectern while leaving his address to the nation on the special counsel report on his mishandling of classified documents Thursday night.… read more

Anticipating Media Coverage of the 2024 Presidential Campaigns

Commentary

When I noted that MSNBC and CNN made decisions not to provide live coverage of former President Trump’s victory speech in Iowa, depriving viewers of legitimate news, I began thinking about the anti-Trump bias that continues to exist within much of the media.

To refresh your memory, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow announced that her network chose to protect its viewers from Trump’s supposed “penchant for lying,” stating, “We will let you know if there’s any news made in the speech if there’s anything noteworthy, something substantive and important.”… read more

It’s Time to Go, Joe

Commentary

“It’s awfully hard to oust a sitting president who wants to run.” -Byron York, Washington Examiner

Yes, but President Biden needs to be told it’s time to step aside.

Regular readers may recall my repeated criticism of Jill Biden for her failure to advise him not to run in 2020, followed by three years of encouragement when the world saw him going downhill.… read more

Devastating and Embarrassing: Special Counsel Tells World Our President is a Sympathetic Character

Commentary

You may recall how President Biden told world leaders at the G7 summit that “America was back,” and he repeatedly told us how he has restored their confidence in the U.S.

On Thursday, however, Special Counsel Robert K. Hur, investigating the presidents mishandling of classified documents, said “We have considered that, at trial, Mr.read more

Setting the Record Straight on the Border Issue

                                                            Commentary

On Day One of his administration, President Biden halted construction of the border wall begun by former President Trump and announced that he was sending an immigration bill to Congress as part of his commitment to modernize our immigration system.

“The U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 established a new system to responsibly manage and secure our border, keep our families and communities safe, and better manage migration across the hemisphere.”read more

The Polls

“While it’s true that national polling doesn’t tell us much because we don’t elect a president with a national popular vote,” writes Matt Margolis of PJ Media, “it can still give us some hints about how the political winds are shifting.”

Margolis quoting Moody’s Analytics :

“They predict Biden will hold Georgia and Nevada despite polls consistently showing Trump leading in those states.”read more
