I have mixed feelings about Carly Fiorina’s return to the set of ABC’s “The View” on Friday.
Responding to Carl Quintanilla’s inquiry about her believed weakness, Fiorina put on a big smile and remarked that she was criticized for not smiling during her previous debate. It drew a rousing response from the audience.
Michelle Collins, however, thought she looked “demented.” Co-host Joy Behar suggested a Halloween mask be made of her face. Look at the accompanying photo taken of Fiorina at that moment. You be the judge.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg tried to take credit for the show elevating Fiorina to the top tier of GOP candidates. Unbelievable.
I give Fiorina credit for her response to Collins’ comment, but I’m not sure a repeat appearance on the sappy show will change any minds among the liberal viewers of that show.
Fiorina frequently states that she is “Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare.” Using that line on The View won’t win her any votes from those who favor Clinton’s big government pampering.
If the show hosts permit Fiorina to elaborate on her additional position that all issues are women’s issues she just may sway a woman or two. If you assume that few Democrat women were watching the GOP debates, you understand there are still viewers who really don’t know her. I wonder, for instance, how many know she can still smile despite experiencing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy followed by an implant infection, while suffering the loss of her stepdaughter to a drug addiction in the same year? And she’s still ready to serve her country.
Of one thing I am sure. Her return to the scene of the insult will serve to boost The View’s sagging ratings.
Finally, let’s not forget that it was Donald Trump who said, “Look at that face; would anyone vote for that?” Inexcusable.
