Over my morning coffee

“Is it just me or is Ted Cruz not going to let Carly talk?” – Cindy McCain

I must say, reading that quote while sipping my morning coffee was almost disastrous.

I have often criticized Sen. John McCain for putting a muzzle on his 2008 running mate, Sarah Palin, who had been wowing crowds since his selection. She was told to lay off the comments on Obama’s associations with questionable characters, like Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright.

Now McCain’s daughter appears to be slamming Cruz for doing the same thing. One difference – Cruz hasn’t silenced Carly Fiorina. Just yesterday she commented that she had been doing interviews since 4:30 a.m. to satisfy east coast television programming. There is no better attack dog to challenge Hillary Clinton. I wonder, was Cindy critical of her dad’s decision?

While opinions of Palin vary, one only need review video clips of her crowd-pleasing speeches, including her RNC convention speech, to recall how she stirred audiences. She carried the McCain campaign with her spirited criticism of Barrack Obama, while McCain’s low key speeches left us cold.

You might say she was the Donald Trump of the 2008 campaign, minus the off-color remarks and personal insults.
