GOP House and Senate candidates remind me of Eeyore

Remember Eeyore, the woe is me, sad and discouraged character in Winnie the Pooh, who always saw the glass half empty? While he is portrayed as a forlorn whining donkey, today he reminds me of those Republican’s jumping from the Trump train.

You would think that they had a proud record to protect having control of the House and Senate, but no, President Obama has generally had his way. The Department of Justice, under both Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, have failed to bring justice to Fast and Furious, the IRS scandals, Benghazi, Hillary Clinton’s reckless handling of classified information and the Clinton Foundation. And, it appears they will be unable to stop the president from closing Guantanamo.

Now they are only interested in protecting their own skins, winning their own seats, while avoiding any connection with the Republican nominee Donald Trump, who – need they be reminded – was preferred over the 16 other candidates by a change-hungry populace.

Meanwhile, Trump credits Hillary as someone who doesn’t quit during the second debate Sunday night. “She doesn’t quit and she doesn’t give up. I respect that. She’s a fighter. I disagree with much of what she’s fighting for, but she does fight hard and doesn’t quit. I consider that to be a very good trait.”

Too bad he cannot say the same about fellow Republicans, who seem to be content with “living with” Hillary in the White House. What a sorry bunch!
