Chuck Todd no neutral … little hope for journalism … and an unusual EPA protest

Here are my observations on items in the news.

NBC’S CHUCK TODD EXPOSED – On October 6, I took exception to Chuck Todd’s assertion in a New York Times Magazine interview that he was a political neutral. That claim was expertly exposed Monday in a piece, “Rep. Steve Scalise Survives Assassination Attempt to Destroy Chuck Todd,” by Mollie Hemingway for The Federalist.

“There are two types of people: those who ambush Republicans such as Steve Scalise with cheap shot political attacks, and people with decency,” wrote Hemingway, “Chuck Todd on Sunday decided he wanted to be the former.”

Todd devoted the entire aired portion of his interview with Scalise pushing gun control. “For eight minutes, Todd focused on what he sees as Scalise’s political shortcomings,” Hemingway notes, “and badgered him to adopt the views of his political opponents.” Meanwhile, Hemingway related that Scalise made Todd look like the “uninformed and naïve partisan activist he is.”

It’s obvious that Todd was aware that Scalise would be unwilling to abandon his principles based on the Second Amendment, and as Hemingway surmised, Todd’s aim was to attack Scalise’s position. If he wanted someone to agree with him, Todd should have invited former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on his show. Sadly, I believe, she has allowed the anti-gun crowd to use her as a victim of the Second Amendment.

LITTLE HOPE FOR RETURN OF SOLID JOURNALISM REPORTING – We already know that students in our country’s J-Schools and Communications Schools learn in an environment where liberal professors outnumber conservative professors 10 to 1.

Now, the College Fix/Student Free Press has announced a program that will enable students to compete for newspaper and magazine internships in which they can work side-by-side with journalism professionals at publications in the nation’s capital. Doesn’t that give you hope? The outlook isn’t optimistic for new life being injected into this dying profession.

DEEP STATE “DO DO” LEFT IN EPA HALLWAY – It seems as though Obama Deep State holdovers in the Denver EPA office have exhausted other forms of protesting their objection to changes brought about by Administrator Scott Pruitt and the Trump administration. Local supervision has appealed to workers to discontinue depositing feces in the agency hallways.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TOMORROW, when Pruitt fulfills a Trump campaign promise by pulling the plug on the EPA’s over-reaching, job-killing Clean Power Plan?
