Here are my observations on items in the news.
LEAVE IT TO A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT to rudely attack President Trump during his meeting with governors yesterday. In still another listening session on how to make our schools safer, the president invited media cameras in to televise the input of governors.
Washington’s Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee got a bit snarky with the president over his suggestion on the arming of some teachers, and the president was visibly not happy about it. The governor spoke of his conversations with 1st grade teachers “who don’t want to be pistol-packing 1st grade teachers.”
Taking advantage of the cameras, the governor said, “Now I understand that you have suggested this, and we suggest things and sometimes then we listen to people about it and maybe they don’t look so good a little later, so I suggest we need a little less tweeting and a little more listening, and just take that off the table and move forward.”
Inslee, who has unsuccessfully pushed for a cap and trade legislation in his state, formed an alliance with Governors Andrew Cuomo (N.Y.) and Jerry Brown (Calif.) to continue emissions control efforts of the Paris accord in response the presidents pull-out last year.
FED EX HAS A SPINE – Give the shipping giant FedEx credit for not caving to the demands of Parkland high school gun-control student activist David Hogg to cut ties with the NRA.
“FedEx is a common carrier under Federal law and therefore does not and will not deny service or discriminate against any legal entity regardless of their policy positions or political views. The NRA is one of hundreds of organizations in our alliances/association marketing program who members receive discounted rates for FedEx’s shipping,” the company announced.
Twitchy reported that there was a $2.39/share increase in FedEx stock yesterday. When multiplied by the 267.89 million shares outstanding, the result is a $640.25 million value gain for investors.
MEANWHILE, Georgia’s Republican Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle responded to Delta Airline’s decision to sever ties with the NRA by announcing he will work to ensure the airline gets no tax breaks if they continue to boycott the NRA. “Discriminating against law-abiding gun owners will not solve the problem” we face in attacks like the one at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said Cagle, a lifetime member of the NRA.
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS for the victims of the Florida school shooting have flowed to the Parkland high school community since the shooting, but the buzz from Twitter land is that “thoughts and prayers don’t help.” Even TIME tweeted “Adults offered thoughts and prayers after the Florida shooting, but it doesn’t do anything.”
ACTOR CHRIS PRATT, Guardian of the Galaxy star, tweeted fellow filmmaker Kevin Smith, who suffered a massive heart attack, “I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer.” A number of Pratt’s followers blasted him, comparing his call for prayers to politicians, who have sent thoughts and prayers to victims of the recent school shooting.
THE LEFT’S ATTACK ON RELIGION continued on ABC’s The View as Joy Behar repeated her earlier insult of Vice President Mike Pence’s religious beliefs. “Like I said before, it’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” she said, “that’s called mental illness … if I’m not correct … hearing voices.”
OBAMA “SECRET” SPEECH LEAKED – Despite the stern warnings of recording, taking notes or even discussing the content of former President Obama’s speech at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference last Friday, a recording found its way to Reason Magazine, before a number of publications and blogs filed their comments.
The headline, “Obama’s Secret Speech Revealed In All Its Delusional Obamaness,” in the Independent Sentinel caught my eye, because I have always thought he was delusional.
Obama always saw himself as a basketball player, frequently talking about his Chicago pick-up games, but when we saw him miss 20 out of 22 shots on the White House court on April 1, 2013 … well, it was more evidence of another delusion. You can watch his performance by clicking here.
He told the conference audience that he believed he could be a benchwarmer, a walk-on, on a Division I college team. Yeah, right.
The humor didn’t stop there. “We didn’t have a scandal that embarrassed us,” he said, while admitting that his “team made mistakes, but no massive screw-ups.” When he added, “I know that seems like a low bar,” the audience burst into laughter.
A PARTIAL LIST OF SCANDALS – Thanks to Sentinel author S. Noble’s research, here is a list of scandals the Obama administration did not have: Solyndra … IRS targeting of conservative groups … Hillary’s private server he knew about … Benghazi … Fast & Furious … spying on AP journalists and Fox’s James Rosen … his attorney general Holder held in contempt of Congress … sending $1.7 billion in cash to Iran … the Iran nuclear deal … the ObamaCare lies … welcoming Black Lives Matter people to White House … Bowe Bergdahl … decisions overturned by Supreme Court … VA waiting list … GSA spending spree … Joe Sestak offered job to stay out of Pennsylvania race so Spector could win … the Stimulus “no shovel ready jobs … NSA spies on Americans … the EPA Colorado River pollution cover-up … out of control Secret Service staff … doubling the national debt … and (soon to be revealed) spying on the Trump transition team..
