Here are my observations and opinions of my selected news of the day.
THE SAUDI MESS – The mysterious disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who many consider was killed, has caused considerable concern over the United Sates’ relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Democrats are fully aware of the vital importance of the economic, defense and intelligence relationship we have with the Saudis, developed at the May 2017 summit with Saudi and other Gulf state leaders.
However, single-issue Democrats, who have a history of demanding civil rights reform in Saudi Arabia, see the investigation going nowhere and are eager to nail President Trump as weak in managing the U.S. position on Khashoggi.
Stay tuned.
NOBODY CARES WHAT HE THINKS – Former President Jimmy Carter criticized newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, calling him “unfit” to serve on the court, but nobody cares.
Carter was troubled by Kavanaugh’s behavior before the Senate committee, but rather than keep his thoughts to himself, he found it necessary to make his opinion known while speaking to a class at Emory University in Atlanta.
We can be thankful that the former peanut farmer never had the opportunity to nominate someone to the highest court. He did, however, appoint Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Court of Appeals.
IT’S TIME TO EAT CROW for the critics of the Trump tax cuts, who said they would blow a hole in the deficit. While individual income taxes climbed six percent in the just-ended 2018 fiscal year we saw the economy grow faster and more jobs created than expected, according to Investor’s Business Daily.
Despite the fact that individual income tax rates were cut significantly as part of the president’s tax cut/reform plan, individual income tax collections totaled $1.7 trillion, up $14 billion from fiscal year 2017, an all-time high.
ANOTHER PLUS FOR TRUMP – The World Economic Forum just ranked the United States as the world’s most competitive economy for the first time since 2008.
The strides made under Trump forced the “stark admission by the global group, which includes many of the world’s left-leaning elite and super-wealthy CEOs and entrepreneurs,” Investor’s Business Daily reported.
The U.S. held his position just before the 2008 election of Barack Obama, but his job-killing Dodd-Frank and ObamaCare bills and wasteful “stimulus” of nearly $1 trillion resulted in our ranking slide. The U.S. ranked as low as seventh place and never went higher than No. 3 under Obama.
EXPECT DEMOCRATS TO IGNORE this and the list of nearly 300 accomplishments of the first 20 months of the Trump administration as they seek to gain control of the House in the midterms. They refuse to admit they are better off now than they were two years ago. The hatred for President Trump for defeating Hillary Clinton runs deep.
HE MAY HAVE CALLED HIM “LYIN TED,” but that was during the 2016 campaign when presidential candidate Donald Trump took off the gloves to become the Republican nominee.
But on October 22, 2018, President Trump will now travel to Houston, Texas to hold a rally for Sen. Ted Cruz, locked in a fairly tight race. The rally was forced to move from a site that would hold 7,000 people to the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets, where 19,000 people can be accommodated.
President Trump, in full campaign mode, will be making weekend appearances in Montana to help Matt Rosendale who is out to defeat Democrat incumbent Sen. John Testor; in Mesa, Arizona for Rep. Martha McSally, who is seeking to fill Jeff “the” Flake’s seat in the Senate; and in Nevada in support of Sen. Dean Heller’s reelection.
SURELY, YOU’VE HEARD Democrats, especially loser Hillary Clinton, rant about President Trump’s anti HGBTQ stance. Amongst the recent wave of judicial appointees, however, was Patrick Bumstay, an openly gay conservative.
Trump nominated Bumstay to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. The nation’s largest federal appeals court, with 29 judges, it hears cases from nine Western states in its San Francisco location.
Bumstay is the second openly gay person Trump has nominated to the federal bench, having named Mary Rowland to the U.S. District Court for the Northern Illinois District in June. She is awaiting Senate confirmation.
You will recall that Rick Grenell, Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany is also openly gay.
Time to add another Democrat myth to the ash heap.
WHEN I READ that the Washington Post had published a piece on how to get Justice Kavanaugh removed from the Supreme Court without impeachment proceedings, I couldn’t help but feel disgust. This goes beyond fake news.
Jason Billings, writing @SingleDallasGuy, put it succinctly: “Disgraceful. A news organization plotting an agenda rather than writing the day’s news.”
DID YOU SEE Debbie “White Dove” Porreco, a real descendent of Pocahontas, when she appeared on Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight? She’s looking for an apology from Sen. Elizabeth Warren. No chance of that.
By now you have probably heard that the Cherokee Nation issued a statement that “A DNA test useless to determine tribal citizenship.” In addition to citing Warren’s claim as “inappropriate and wrong,” she is “undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.”
A DEEP STATE BUREAUCRAT has been arrested and charged with leaking financial transactions made by Paul Manafort and Rick Gates to news outlets, primarily BuzzFeed.
Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, 40, of Quinton, Virginia, a senior advisor in the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, is now out on $100,000 bail and faces a maximum of five years in jail. She faces one count on unlawfully disclosing suspicious activity reports, and one count of conspiracy to disclose those reports.
Now we need to uncover all of those Deep State employees in the DOJ and FBI.
DID YOU KNOW that President Trump has 55.2 million Twitter followers.
