Here are my observations and opinions on my selected items in the news.
THE LEFTIST MEDIA was eager to blame President Trump for the recent bomb threats made by the wacko arrested in Florida on Friday. They want you to believe it was the president’s rhetoric that touched him off even though he has a record of threats, including one dating back to 2002.
While they blame the president, we all recall the frequent predictions by the likes of MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Chris Mathews that if the president doesn’t tone down his remarks someone is going to get hurt. Of course, they would never think that their words would encourage one of their viewers to act.
HOW SOON THEY FORGET that the shooter who tried to kill Republicans practicing baseball last year, nearly killing Rep Steve Scalese, made it known that “One of my favorite TV shows is the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.” Maddow is known for flame-throwing commentary against the Trump administration.
PEGGY NOONAN sees it this way in her Saturday Wall Street Journal column: “Mr. Trump has ushered in a new presidential era of verbal roughness. At his rallies he sees himself as being proactive, and humorous and teasing. His crowds know he is entertaining them and they have fun back, reenacting their old 2016 fervor with ‘lock her up’ and ‘build that wall.’ They don’t emerge whipped with rage; they leave in a good mood, though tired from standing so long because he speaks so long.
“The president knows that half the country is watching, and dislikes and disdains what it sees. Mr. Trump seems to think only about his audience and his foes. He doesn’t seem to proceed with the knowledge that there are the unstable among us.”
AN UNSERIOUS POLL – Obviously, USA Today, teamed with the Suffolk Poll, want readers to base their votes on their approval of President Trump as a result of their recent poll in which they asked: How much impact will President Trump have on your congressional vote? And follow with: A lot, I want to oppose him; A little, I want to oppose him; A little, I want to support him; A lot I want to support him; He doesn’t have an impact on my vote; and Undecided. The highly questionable poll revealed that respondents oppose the president. Duh.
ABOUT THAT ‘BLUE WAVE’ is the headline on an excellent piece by Conrad Black in National Review. “Only the Democrats’ hammerlock on the traditional national political media and its uniform hostility to Trump has allowed the Democrats to remain in contention for a partially successful result in November,” he believes.
Acknowledging that “It is not fair to say the Democrats as a party foment violence and incivility as a tactic,” says Black, “it is a reasonable observation that almost all those who incite and commit acts of political incivility prefer Democrats to the Republicans and are generally engaged in attacking and harassing Republicans and not Democrats.”
“After what he (Trump) has achieved in the past 19 months, the country will not desert this president, as Lincoln said, ‘in the middle of the stream,’” Black writes, considering that while he isn’t on the ballot, his policies and accomplishments are; intimating that voters will support Republican candidates.
I do hope is correct.
HOW DESPERATE DO YOU HAVE TO BE to ask former Vice President Joe Biden to campaign for you? Democrat incumbent Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is trailing Rep. Kevin Cramer by double digits in North Dakota and did. I guess she might even welcome Hillary Clinton.
NOT REPORTING NEWS IS FAKE NEWS TOO – During Friday’s gathering of future black leaders in the White House, sponsored by Turning Point USA, President Trump asked the group of young Republican blacks if anyone hoped to be president one day, and several raised their hands. Only on the Fox News Channel was this covered.
Ali Alexander, writing @ali, tweeted, “President Trump stood in the White House today and said that he hoped for a future black, republican president one day. I don’t see a single media headline.”
“The bias is so blatant and so corrosive.” – Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA founder
MORE THAN 800 STUDENTS attended the Turning Point USA High School Summit at Georgetown University, many of them wearing red Make America Great Again caps, to listen to a host of speakers from the Trump administration, but also Mark Cuban and Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv, missed by the media, which didn’t cover the event until the last day of the four-day event.
“Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn’t know because they might reflect badly on Democrats.” – Jim Treacher @jtLOL
“NO SHAME OBAMA,” appearing at a rally in Wisconsin for Democrat candidates, accused Republicans of lying. The former president, again using his familiar stilted, fabricated stuttering speaking style said, “politicians (are) just blatantly, repeatedly, baldly, shamelessly lying.”
That from the same former president Obama, who reportedly repeated the lies of keeping your doctor and your insurance plan 36 times.
And that, from the former president Obama, who once acknowledged, “I actually believe my bulls**it.” And the same former president who said, “the rise of the oceans (will) slow, and our planet will heal.”
AS IF WE DIDN’T SUSPECT IT – According to an analysis by Campus Report, 94.7 percent of all political donations by University of Texas employees – $642,693.433 – from 2017-2018, went to Democrat politicians or organizations.
Those same individuals are having a major impact on the thinking of young men and women attending the university, where liberal thought prevails. And its not just at UT.
THE LEFT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA – Chapel Hill – Jennifer Ho, a professor of English and comparative literature, nominated Dr. Christine Blasey Ford for one of the school’s “Distinguished Alumni Awards,” citing how Ford “told the truth” about an encounter she allegedly had with Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Ford may have believed she was telling the truth, but the FBI didn’t see it that way.
UNC-Chapel Hill College Republicans President Magdalene Horzempa disagreed, saying that in her opinion, Ford was used by the Democrat Party as a political pawn, citing the left’s character assassination attempt. I assume Horzempa has tenure.
The board of trustees is expected to make a decision on this yet this month.
May God bless the United States of America.
