No academy award for Schiff … the Biden’s, more than just Joe and Hunter … Politico fools public with magic … another fake news story … seniors’ surveyed … another terrorist killed … San Antonio foots the bill over nonsense … the Prez to be first to speak at March for Life

Here are my observations and opinions from my select news of the day.

NOT ALL OF THE MEDIA have gushed over the “performance” of Adam Schiff as did the lefties on MSNBC.

When Schiff tried to analogize the House impeachment to a federal prosecution, Washington Post columnist Henry Olsen rebuked Schiff’s “disingenuous” argument and proceeded to demolish it, citing the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure and reminds readers that there is no claim that President Trump committed a crime.  And that was just the beginning of Olsen’s challenge of Schiff’s “performance.”

Over at MSNBC, however, a panel was all agog over Schiff.  “A very, very powerful, forceful speech,” said Wolf Blitzer.  Jeffrey Toobin must have been watching a rerun of “Dancing With the Stars” as he thought Schiff was “dazzling.”

Then there’s former Sen. Claire McCaskill, who suggested that Schiff had many admirers among those in the Senate, who would never admit it publicly.

MORNING JOE host Joe Scarborough, an obvious anti-Trumper, seems to be predicting a Trump loss in November.  Speaking disparagingly of those in “their Fox News bubble,” the leftist Scarborough said, “They have no idea what’s coming in November.”

YOU’RE MISINFORMED if you think a mention of the Biden’s is referring only to Apology Joe Biden, the tired Democrat candidate for president, and his son, Hunter, who is making a bundle as a board member of a Ukraine energy company.

Joe’s younger brother, James, was named to the board of Hillstone International as an executive vice president within weeks after meetings took place in the White House as the firm was negotiating a contract that eventually led to contract to build 100,000 homes in Iraq, part of a $35 billion deal.

While Hillside apparently ran into difficulty due to problems that developed due to a lack of experience, it continued under another significant contract in Iraq under a six-year contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

But there are other Biden’s who have benefited from having a Biden as vice president.  There’s Dr. Howard Klein, husband of Joe’s daughter Ashley, Joe’s other brother, Frank, and Valerie Biden Owens, James Biden’s daughter.

The curious can find details in “Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite,” the book written by Peter Schweizer.

NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON’T – That is the result of journalistic magic practiced at the left-leaning Politico.  The site’s initial headline on its story of the Senate passing the USMCA bill read: “Senate passes USMCA in major win for Trump,“ according to a tweet from Erin Perrine @ErinMPerrine.

Someone upstairs in the editorial department hierarchy, who probably used to shout “STOP THE PRESSES,” most likely shouted “UPDATE THE WEBSITE! We can’t recognize a Trump win!”  So, with the stroke of a few keys, the new headline appeared: “Senate passes USMCA, but much work remains.”

It isn’t the first time that the left has done this.  You may recall that the New York Times, following its coverage of the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, was pressured to change its initial positive headline: TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM to read: ASSAILING HATE BUT NOT GUNS.

MAKING IT UP – Former press secretary for President Clinton, Joe Lockhart, now a contributor on CNN, didn’t have a story, so he made one up.  Kind of like Adam Schiff did when he opened the House hearings, when he fabricated a conversation the president had with Ukraine President Zelensky.  Here it is:

“Overheard convo between two Republican Senators who only watch Fox News. ‘Is this stuff real? I haven’t heard any of this before.  I thought it was all about a server.  If half the stuff Schiff is saying is true, we’re up shit’s creak.  Hope the White House has exculpatory evidence.’

After racking up over 8,000 retweets and 34,000 “likes,” in just 10 minutes, including one by Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, who was taken in, Lockhart admitted it was fake news.  With no network censure, the cocky Lockhart later “patted himself on the back,” according to Kristine Marsh of NewsBusters, “for poking the bear.”

IS IT ANY WONDER THEN that when older Americans were the focus of a recent survey done for SeniorList, a medical device firm, it was revealed that 55 percent of them believe that the media is “corrupt?”  “(The survey) shows just how much confidence in the news media consumers have lost, a trend started decades ago but supercharged since the 2016 election,” opines Paul Bedard of Washington Examiner.

ESMAIL GHAANI, successor to Qasem Soleimani, received a pointed notice from those opposed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.  One of Soleimani’s close allies, Basij Militia Commander Abdolhossein Mojaddami, was shot and killed by masked assailants in front of his home in southwestern Iran.

NOT SO EASY – The San Antonio city council has found that it isn’t so easy to ban a business from opening an outlet in their airport.  Legal fees are up to more than $300,000 so far as the city is not allowing Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the airport because of the company’s alleged “legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior,” according to Jazz Shaw of PJ Media.

“HIS BOLDEST PRO-MOVE to date,” is how the media is portraying President Trump’s decision to speak at the March for Life gathering on January 24, 2020, making him the first president ever to speak in person.

Maybe this will embolden timid Republicans to grow a spine and stop sending money to Planned Parenthood, suggests Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media.

LAUGH-OF-THE-DAY – Crazy Maisie Hirono, Hawaii’s Democrat senator, related Thursday that she sensed that her Republican senatorial colleagues were having trouble dealing with their consciences in the impeachment trial.  Yeah, right.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
